IMPORTANT NOTE: Yes, in panel 1 I copied that effed-up gearshift layout directly from a copy of RUSH CITY #1, sadly without noticing that the pattern seems to lack both neutral and first gears... Oops! Hey, what can I say, I haven't driven a standard transmission since I used to drive a tractor...

Background: In 2006, DC Comics and Pontiac kicked off a new miniseries, RUSH CITY, that was in effect a product-placement deal on a grand scale. Mysterious new urban hero Diego Zhao, aka “Rush,” rights wrongs, helps the helpless, and defeats the defeatless with the help of his snazzy and gadget-heavy car, a Pontiac Solstice GXP (hence the product placement). Note, by the way, that former firefighter Diego dubbed the sports car “Sam” after his ex-fiancee’s daughter, who died in a fire.
