The three leads of the comic Preacher: Tulip O'Hare, Jesse Custer, and Cassidy the Irish Vampire.This is easily my #2 comic of all time. To me, there's Sandman and there's Preacher. Everything else falls in line behind them. It's poignant, it's beautiful, it's meaningful, and it's also hillarious, violent, thought-provoking, and disturbing on many, many levels.
It's an Irish atheist's love-letter to the American West and the great Westerns, and it's as good as comics get. Buy it, people. Seriously.

I think Genesis goes with Jesse. We know there's an afterlife of some kind; Genesis returns there. Unless Genesis was effectively destroyed by bonding with Jesse, in which case "Jesse" wasn't really himself either - he became a new, third being that was made up of both himself and Genesis. As to the SoK, I'm pretty sure "God" isn't a title that's passed around. God was God because he was frikkin' God. No matter who else sits in that chair, they can't become him because he's the only him that there was (for better or worse).

Oh wow; you know I never even though of it like that. I always thought that once Jesse had died, Genesis was free to roam around in some Godless void.
And ya that is true. No one can, nor ever will be, God, unless of course you some angel/demon deity possessing them,lolXD. Still, there's one thing that bothers me, if God is dead, how is it possibly that the rest of the world keeps on going? I figured if the S.O.K killed God, shouldn't the rest of life and humanity cease to exist?

The world runs on its own. It doesn't need god to manage - it isn't like a clock that needs constant winding. It's like god started a snowball rolling down a giant hill. He maybe put it in motion, but that ball's going to keep on rolling, getting bigger and bigger on its own, and will only stop if and when it's run it's natural course. Saying life only exists so long as god is around ignores a lot about what life really is and how it works. After all, the book never suggested it was otherwise, so we have to assume the rules of our world apply to theirs too.

Total and utter. Was just rereading this recently and MAN. It is still great. These are some of the best characters fiction ever produced.

Read it . And I'm kinda hot & cold on it , or on Garth Ennis in general.
If it's good , yes but it's not his best work . 3/4 of his Punisher MAX run & especially HITMAN (who I really really love & can never recommend enough ) are vastly superior .
Still I love how all in all how despite all the horrors , grossness & depravity & Herr Star gradual decline into insanity (Actually I think he's alternately the most intelligent & the most stupid man in the whole comic ), there was still hope & optimism for them . I think the ending should have been more... definitive for the strongest & weakest protagonist (guess who 
Also was that really god ? it looked more like Yosemite Sam 's insane exhibitionist nephew ...

My high-school Bio teacher suggested this and Hellboy to me, so glad I took his advice. Those two, Sandman, and Watchmen are probably my Top 4 all-time favorite comics.
