Description
Commission from C2E2 2012; Pencil.Never had the chance to draw this lovely lady before. Most of the pics of Samus I see portray her as some kind of Barbie-esque pin-up model sex fantasy in heavy armor, and that didn't make any sense to me. I figured this hard-ass intergalactic bounty hunter ought to look like she could kick some significant hindquarters. I figured she probably wouldn't be in there with her long hair in a loose ponytail, fixing her makeup and ready to hop out as fresh as a daisy when the killin' was done.
So this is my hard-ass Samus. Look out, Starbuck - she's creeping up on you.

Did a couple different color schemes for her. Hope you like them! ~ [link] ~ ~ [link] ~

I like 'em both! But the classic NES look is just pure nostalgia.

I like this. I quite like this a lot. More mecha suit fleshed out than 's one drawing of her with the suit coming off. More reminiscent of a Tau Crisis Suit, with how she's in there.

You don't understand, that suit is her body. Its not something that she simply puts on its connected to her on an almost atomic level.

About goddammed time someone did this right! No seriously, I enjoy my lovely ladies as much as the next perv, but I also like my mecha too...and I don't see anybody wearing power armor looking fresh, clean or anything remotely similar. Thanks for this.

Haha! SO COOL!
Thank you for not being part of the pin-up Samus plague that we've seen.
Hard-ass Samus' for the win!
She seems a bit small for the armor, but I guess that depends on how you see power armour fitting.

I see the armor as a cross between heavy power-armor and a small mecha. She's the armor's pilot, not just its wearer. I mean, how else could it roll up into a little ball and drive around without crushing all of her limbs?

A good point on all accounts. I've been crazy enough to try to imagine how the Morph Ball works, but...
That's a road I don't recommend driving down.

And ANOTHER thing! Look at her shoulder-to-hip ratio! How redonculously broad-shouldered would that girl have to be to fit those proportions?!

That's if you assume her shoulders even fit in the big globe things. It's more like they are filled with SCIENCE!

Thanks. The idea of the armor being more like Starcraft Marine armor - big, powerful, mech-like - just made more sense to me. Plus, when it rolls into a ball, she can just sit comfortably inside without her limbs being crushed.

Hell yes. The added space may mean that it's harder to get into the armor, and that she'd be much bulkier while fighting than before, but quite honestly it LOOKS like a much more feasible device and Samus herself looks more like a badass hunter than any other version I've seen. Excellent work.

Yeah, the suit is somewhere between heavy power armor and a small mecha, but that just makes sense to me. Looking at the games and how the armor handles (not to mention the "turning into a ball and rolling around" thing) it just wasn't practical for it to be a regular suit of human-sized armor.
Plus: Extra bad-ass. And it means all those alien things she's fought are actually HUGE compared to humans - even the smaller ones.

True. I'd really hate to think of how large this makes Ridley. It WOULD explain how she'd actually be a little intimidated by him no matter how many times she faces him, though.
