Description
This is a project for my Advanced 3D Character Modeling course. We were to use a character design from a list of concept artists with very stylized approaches. I chose Nick Watson's giraffe character, mostly because of the appeal of his designs, but also for the challenge that this particular design posed in terms of his use of non-parallel lines and straight-against-curve.It was quite the fun project. I think I may have to try my hand at a few more of the character designs to be found among these artists.

Thank you very much. I'm glad you like it. That design was just screaming to be translated into 3D.

Thank you, muchly! I enjoy Nick Watson's crazy style. It's challenging for modeling. Your style is very appealing. I was thinking I might model from one of your drawings, when I have the time. I'm particularly interested in either your "Anchors Aweigh" kid or "young Count Dooku" drawing. "Bamboo Kid" is also quite compelling.

Sounds interesting. Let me know when you have time. I might even draw something new so we can do it as a collaboration.

That would be great! It shouldn't be too long. I have a fairly lax course load, this term.

THAT... is awesome Addam! GREAT great take on the original design. This is really how to utilize 3D... great job!

Thank you, muchly! I'm a big fan of a cartoony approach to 3D.

Nice work again. Im feeling like the concept is a bit far from anatomical realisim for 3D application, if it was pulled back or altered a little it would be even better.

Thank you. We were supposed to model to the reference, so I tried to stay on concept as much as I possibly could. It's a very exaggerated design, which I love.

I love it! Giraffes are my favorite and if I'm understanding correctly that you took that drawing there and made it into the 3D model you did a terrific job.

Thank you very much. Yes, the assignment was to model from a reference that we did not create ourselves, since that's a more likely scenario in a professional environment.
I agree, giraffes are very cool, particularly such cartoony ones as this.
