I end up thinking about both the primordial woods of the Northwest when I look at this. The Pacific coast mated with the wilderness at the beginning of the Divine Comedy, and the riddle of the Sphinx. So much heart gets lost in technique sometimes, but not here.

It's a paper tube rolled up really tight that you can use to smudge graphite with. You can find it at most art stores.
