Description
Wow, this is old. It seems all of my more adventurous artwork came from 2003... ^__^; I'll try to be more spontaneous like this again, I promise!But anyway, I needed something random to practice my Prismacolor pencils on back then, and this was the result. I chose darker, moth-like colors because I didn't want your average bright-pink-happy fairy.
Gave the original of this to Brian Froud when I first met him at FaerieWorlds!

Old, yes, but a favorite forever. Gack, this is back from the Lothlorien/Elfwood days.

I like how you took an ordinary bug and used so many of its charicteristics to make this beautiful fairy

Serious case of flexible feet! Love the patterning on he body. Does it have double wings or are the white and black bits the inside patterning of the whole wing?

Pretty! I like the heel spikes; it's not something you commonly see in art, but it's not too rare in the animal kingdom (or so I believe).

Yeah, I found my spontaneous pieces were from my earlier years too. I used to CG a lot..and i need to start messing around with colors, both digital and traditional, more as well as expand my subject matter.
This is a lovely piece!

love the wings.
the hand is nice but at an odd angle come out there
and yes a lil randomness is needed especially when an artist has a specific style and characters they do often *coughs* haha
very pretty. you should do old vs new or something

I wish I could remember! I've met him twice now, but all I can remember about the first time is a long blur of being nervous, waiting in line, gushing something to him about his work being amazing. I think I just shoved the drawing at him, lol. I really don't know. But he's so terribly nice! The second time I met him was in 2006, and that went much better. We got to talk, there weren't crowds of people, and I also met his wife and got a sneak peek at his future projects. That man has a level of talent beyond anything I've ever seen before. I gave everyone on his staff a signed giftcard of my work before I left, hee, so if nothing else, he knows I exist! ^__^;

That's pretty neat! I have some signed prints from him and his wife. I really like her work. They were a gift from a friend that met them both. She also got me a signed print and book from John Howe inscribed to me. I told her that I bet he knew how to spell my name, and she said he did. lol
