Description
Just an overview of the Flying type in the same style as the overviews I made for my 4 fanmade types. Of course this features any type retcons as well as my adjustments of the strengths and weaknesses of the type in the context of a type chart featuring those 4 fanmade types.

With my Wind type, there's always the criticism that it overlaps with Flying... so seeing an overview of the "remaining" Flying types is pretty interesting. IMO this image shows that even with a Wind type, the Flying type is perfectly justified in existing, as it's still a more gritty type that is more about the strategic advantage of being airborne, as well as about bird-like creatures and their behavior (wing/beak/feather-moves).

The type match-ups remain mostly the same as the official Flying type, with just a few key differences:
-Cosmic trumps Flying offensively and defensively, being literally "above" the realm of Flying types
-Flying trumps the magical Wind element, by being the master of skillful airborne movement, being used to navigating air currents, while Wind Pokemon are light targets.
-the Flying type is no longer flat-out immune to Ground as a type, instead it merely resists Ground. However, the reason for that is that I imagine a new game mechanic that separates the concept of literally ground-affecting moves and the fact that some Pokemon are airborne. Essentially, regardless of type, moves can be ground-targeted (which includes things like Terrain effects, but also moves like Surf, Earthquake etc.), and every Pokemon species, regardless of type, is either grounded or airborne (so Dustox is airborne, while Dodrio is grounded etc). This means that an airborne AND Flying type Pokémon will take damage from a Bonemerang or Mud Shot, because those moves are not ground-target moves, despite being Ground type moves.
