Just the picture for Dark type.But with a new name...because the Dark type has not and is not about literal elemental darkness.
It is called "Evil type" in japanese, and is all about sneaky strategy, unfair moves, being mean..
Foul was the only thing I could think of that isn't "evil" (since I guess that's not family friendly or something..). Any alternative ideas on what to rename the Dark type to fix this mess?
Shady, Nasty, Sneaky, Unfair, Mean, Vicious, Malicious is too long... no idea.

Dark is more of a naming rather than the Darkness itself. You may ask why Absol, being the Cassandra, is a Dark type? Not to mention Umbreon, evolving with friendship at max?
Dark-type is suggestif. It explain why it is weak to Fighting-type (their strategy is dishonorable to them), Bug-Type (Social versus Solitude/Rogue) and Fairy-Type (Good versus Evil, even if they use psychological manipulation)?
Psychic cannot even read their mind as they have a philosophy different to them and can't even interprete them.

Yea, all valid points. And I'm actually fine with it keeping the name dark... it just seems slightly too easy to misunderstand, especially by kids.

You're correct that Dark doesn't represent literal darkness, but it's still a good name for it, imo. I mean, you can refer to something as "dark" and mean evil, malicious, vicious, etc.

It's certainly not as bad as the german name for example (which is "Unlicht", the opposite of light) I concede that it still works fine as the name for it, but I was wondering about an alternate name, because I feel like it prevents me from contemplating a fake type that is about darkness as an element.

At least as a translation, the term "Dark" is vague enough that it can be both evil/malicious and literal darkness.

Well, I think they should keep Dark type or better yet why not both Dark and Foul types?

Yea, I was contemplating the idea of a new type that is actually about darkness and night-time. The closest we have currently is Ghost.
But the name of the current Dark type makes it weird, that's why it got me thinking what it could be renamed to.
