Rachael lay miserably in the dark. Her hands were cuffed behind her back and her ankles and knees were tightly tied with rope. Worse than that, Stewart was threatening to accuse her of theft and get her sacked before she could blow the whistle on the creep’s embezzlement scam. The young trainee was in despair as she heard Stewart’s oohs! and aaahs! as he watched Real Madrid fail to handle Manchester City on his boss’ TV. But as Rachael lay helplessly, a slight twinge of hope entered her thoughts. Stewart had not tied her that tightly: with a little effort, the supple young woman could probably manoeuvre her way out of her bonds. And then she also remembered how the sneering Stewart had left the key to the handcuffs on the floor just inches from her nose. “So near but so far!’ he had laughed scornfully.
As the ropes around her ankles and knees loosened, Rachael stared fixedly at the key. The idiot had left her with a chance - just a chance - to turn the tables. She began to struggle and move in earnest.
