Description
I have created this as part of my final assignment as a complimentary task.I have not designed this tutorial for the average illustrator user. You need to know how to use the pen tool and other basic features of illustrator.
All u need to know to making a vector is in here, however I cannot guarantee a perfect vector, as practise makes perfect.
Please let me know if you find bugs and spelling/grammatical errors as I have awhile before I have to submit it.
Please let me know if you follow it or if it helps as it will make the time I spent on it worth while.

Wow! I don't even technically do vector art, but this is in fact, technically how I draw pictures, so this gave me some good advice, thank you!

Tips
"Be sure to dag the anchor handles"
should be:
"Be sure to drag the anchor handles"
"DO NOT use this version of the image to get you colors"
should be:
"DO NOT use this version of the image to get your colors"
Nice tutorial -- photoshop will work with this as well I assume ;]

I always wanted to learn how to use Illustrator, so thanks for that tutorial! I'll try it once my finals are over! It is by far a better reading than the manual... I hate programs manuals...
Take care!

Very nice.
For the shading, so you are just drawing a particular shape over the area?
Also, how do you get it so smooth? Vectors are notoriously sharp edged :\

You asked if there were typos... just breezing through this I notices in some places it should be "your" instead of "you".
Nice tut tho...

What's the difference between using a tool like live trace and tracing the photo with a pen tool? You're still tracing a photo.

I don't know much about vectoring so I don't dare to discuss this much, but I was wondering too, what is the point in tracing a photo.

Vector tools are great for a variety of drawing tasks, but it seems some vector artists rely too much on photography. It's hard to blame them when many demos claim that's the way to do it.
