Nice stuff Aeires! I've been navigating through your gallery and seen very good submissions! I would like to know what program you are using to create these 3D motions... its very interesting!

Hey, thanks for digging around in there. This one, and a lot of my other fractals were made with apophysis. It's a free program [link] , so you can grab a copy, plus it's not really huge in file size which helps. There are a couple tuts on that site and if you're interested, I can send you some notes I put together on how the basic aspects of the program work.

Aeires In reply to trinity-77 [2005-03-09 02:26:21 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. I was trying to describe apophysis to someone that has no idea what a fractal is. I told them it was like taking flames from a campfire and molding them into an image. Later that night it occured to me that it's actually more like molding smoke into an image. I'll take that description of yours.

...creepy. <___< It looks like a guy with long hair and the body from a bird, something from a nightmare but I think it's good. It would be excellent for a horror movie.

Aeires In reply to SarahTsukimi [2005-03-05 02:46:31 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. The gray was perfect for the name. When it was more colorful, it looked too much like a caterpillar, so I threw that out.

Ever see Nightmare On Elm Street of Freddy Kruger? Well if yes, then you will remember the part where the girl is layin in bed and on the wall over it you see a hand or face pressing from the inside out like the wall was made of latex or rubber? It was very spooky and this piece reminds me of that, like a hand swaying within the wall...next to you, or above you, or behind you.

Lovely piece for the mood.

Scary series. There is another movie from that era called The Gate. There is a scene where someone is inside the wall trying to get out.

aambience In reply to Aeires [2005-03-03 05:34:43 +0000 UTC]

Is that why you name it "phantom"? Is it usually happen in every fractals work?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Aeires In reply to aambience [2005-03-03 05:41:21 +0000 UTC]

Colors are a major impact on Apophysis fractals. You can completely alter the shape of an image just by swapping colors. I named it Phantom mostly because of the haunting feel to it. It's like it's coming out of the darkness, and you can't exactly tell what it is, or how much there is of it.
