Description
The Image:Fire and water elements, forever trapped in a battle of existence. The beauty is in the balance.
The Medium:
The spiral, both hated and loved by fractal artists. The medium divided, forever at odds over the issue. The irony is that spirals are a fundamental element of what a fractal is, to deny it is to deny what the art is all about.
The Artist:
I really debated posting this, the inner struggle to create something both new and old. I haven't used Apophysis in quite a while, it's a single layer program that is very limited. But the element of Apophysis is the flame, and like the fire in this image, the flame burned within me to share.

Wow. That is a really nice image.
I never really had much interest in venturing into the realm of fractal art, and I'm not so certain why. But I do know that I love looking at fractals. In any case, I didn't know that some fractal artists hated the spiral. Would you mind telling me just why it's hated? I mean, if it is an element of the fundamental concepts of fractal art, why would any fractal artist hate it?

Thanks. I think people view spirals as being too basic a shape to work with, or too old fashioned maybe. Then again, maybe they feel like they've seen too many that weren't unique enough. Personally, I like them because they give us glimpses of an eternal dream, always revealing more as they unwind.

The song "Feuer und Wasser" comes to mind (not a bad thing!). Despite the "firey" parts I think it's very tranquil. ^^

Those fractals mostly have the aesthetics as kaleidoscope-images build of symmetries. It seems to be easy to do a lot of them but to let them look unique is difficult.

Your fractal work is truly among the finest and most inspirational I have come across in my yar here in dA. With so many 'clone' works cropping up all over the place created with whatever version of Apo you can name it is so refreshing to see a piece of work form an entirely different Mould.
Love it when the script just flew out the window in flames!

Here's what it is: you seem to think that you can legitimize lousy images by adding pompous, overwrought, bullshit descriptions to them. You do it over and over again. If you hadn't been a gallery director, no one would even know who you are based solely on your fractals.

Wow, you thought about that a whole day. That's pretty good coming from someone who doesn't have a single image in their gallery and the only thing they fave is porn, aka artistic nudes. Judging by what you fave, you don't know squat about fractals.
Btw, a lot of people knew who I was before I was a gallery director, do the friggin homework if you're going to make lame accusations. For that matter, a lot of my works don't even have descriptions, but you wouldn't know because you haven't looked.

Soft, ellegant and perfect! Especially colors: warm orange reminds me feather of paradise bird on water.
I remember time when I hated spirals, when felt in love with them.. now I agree with oppinion that fractal are mostly spiralized and there is no sense to avoid it. Though plenty of magnificient works are made without it and look wonderful.

Postwork, although I'm working on a hack that'll allow it to be possible in Apo, albeit time-consuming.
I guess I sort of feel like, from your tone, you're dismissing the program without giving it a proper chance. It's just a different way of working, and I'd hate to see someone give up on it just because it can't layer natively. Plus, I think we Apophysis artists are getting the feeling that you are dismissing us as well. I certainly am, anyway. We work hard on what we do, and we find a lot of ways of stretching the boundaries of Apophysis. Just my two cents' worth.
(And what is up with ~midnightbaby ? Jeez. If it freaking displeases you so, don't look at it/read it.

Nope, not at all. I never said Apo sucks, or the people that use it aren't good, I just said it's limited. I used apo for a long time and had some great success with it. Some of my best works are flames, but I know it can only go so far without layering capabilities. Once you've used a program as vast and impressive as UF, Apo pails in comparison. Which still isn't saying it sucks.
Just once I wish people would just read what I say and take it for that. I mean what I say, and if I dodn't mean it, I won't say it. Stop filling in the blanks with their own impressions and thoughts. If I wanted to say apo sucks and the people that use it aren't good, I would post it in a journal. No such journal has been posted and never will because I don't believe that, which is why I didn't say it. And I wish people would stop talking about me behind my back. I'm approachable, and always have been. If apo artists are ruffled by "what I didn't say," let them stop by my page and we'll have a friendly discussion. I've busted my ass for the fractal community here, why are people suddenly thinking I'm looking down on them because of the program they use? Seriously, I love fractals, and think fractal artists are great people. WTF, seriously?
