Oh, this is SOOO beautiful! The colors you used are great, and I'm always impressed with the way you do shadowing/highlighting. I also like that you used the swirly wood texture in the background... It seems very organic and really fits with the concept, I think

Is just beautiful how ur artworks let feelings and ideas flow..

I really love this one since is really related to a theory i love on psychology from Winnicott and other ones.. called the "theory of attachment" Is just a really sweet theory about mother and child.. the importance of the holding (how she grabs the baby), mirroring (how she empathyses with the baby feelings and the baby can see them in the mothers face reflected.. and how the mother at that moment give it names to what the baby feels) and containtment (how the mother containts all the anxiety of the baby..).. is just lovely!

Well I think your artwork speaks about this: "Holding environment is a psychical and physical space within which the infant is protected without knowing he is protected." Winnicott.

huh... maybe that's what it is about!! this image was done in a very unconscious way... i was listening to a song with no words (electronic) and it just came out... so for this, i learn more about its meaning through people like you who are willing to spend a few moments and some thought to give me their interpretation... love it!! and possibly much closer to the truth of it...

WOW! could be!

Maybe you feel that you need that.. or you remember those confortable days when you were so attached to your mother and she would do almost everything for you.. dont know is just beautiful to know that this flow from ur unconscious

It is so hard for me to write a serious Critique on your paintings because I am often enthralled looking at them. This new bunch all seem to be more expressive than earlier works. omo shiroi [link] is where I first remember seeing a change. The emotions express in all of the new paintings all seem to have both a universal meaning and a personal component.

And yes I realize omo shiroi is crayon on paper but the way you use color makes me think paintings more than drawing.

perfect dream [link] has more of the molding I would like to see and you have continued the use of the wonderful pallet you seem to have found.

The seasons series is wonderful. For me they all have a wonderful feel to them much like a child discovering life. On a more universal level they speak to the need for us to be more aware of the world around us and our place in it. The colors are great spring [link] fall [link] winter [link]

In hold [link] the androgyny of the figures adds the feel of a universal meaning or message. I feel it speaks to me about the need of relationships and love and bonding between humans.

in the arms of the angels [link] with its strong but simple shapes. I see the angel figure with its sad face make me think of a parent holding a lost child, white because it's an innocent baby. I read what Celesmoon wrote and was pleasantly surprised too see how close it was to what I have said.

perhaps is exquisitely colored. The obvious personal response which has been ask and answered is are you pregnant? A more universal meaning or message is again back to the need of relationships and love and bonding between humans. But while hold is bitter/sweet I find perhaps to be very optimistic and joyous. Its colors make it seem to burn with possibilities

o_O are you pregnant?

aeravi In reply to nyankorita [2008-07-03 13:02:54 +0000 UTC]

no, the "perhaps" is more about my unconscious. i was doodling to techno music and this is what came out... people ask me if it's about pregnancy, and i don't know...

ohhh, interesting. I think the small figure being in this baby-like position, in combination with the main figure holding its stomach just screams "pregnancy". eh. it's doodling, whatever comes out just is.

to me it's like the person is possibly pregnant and it's causing outer turmoil (the red around her)... she's ok with being pregnant in her mind though and the baby's red because it's movement/ growth......

or maybe it's that she's thinking "perhaps" aborting the pregnancy so the outer red (force) is forcing the death of the baby....

idk... i hope that makes sense! lol..... love the painting by the by

what does the image mean to you?

xmalebny In reply to aeravi [2008-07-03 01:24:48 +0000 UTC]

Like maybe someone is longing to have a baby or be a mother. That was my first thought when i first saw it.

What was your intention?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

aeravi In reply to xmalebny [2008-07-03 13:16:58 +0000 UTC]

my intention was entirely unconscious, to be honest. i'm not sure what it means... but i do work with babies and small children on a daily basis...

aw you are very lucky, I love little children. I am about to be 17 and I am going into college for art and education. I want to teach art to either very little kids, or high schoolers

what do you do with children? Day care type thing?

it's not bad. it's not exactly my dream job, but it's the most fulfilling (and exhausting) job i've ever had. working with kids is pretty rewarding. and inspiring. just need MORE TIME for art, though...
