It is so hard for me to write a serious Critique on your paintings because I am often enthralled looking at them. This new bunch all seem to be more expressive than earlier works. omo shiroi [link] is where I first remember seeing a change. The emotions express in all of the new paintings all seem to have both a universal meaning and a personal component.

And yes I realize omo shiroi is crayon on paper but the way you use color makes me think paintings more than drawing.

perfect dream [link] has more of the molding I would like to see and you have continued the use of the wonderful pallet you seem to have found.

The seasons series is wonderful. For me they all have a wonderful feel to them much like a child discovering life. On a more universal level they speak to the need for us to be more aware of the world around us and our place in it. The colors are great spring [link] Fall [link]

I do look forward to summer. I also caution you to pay attention to the directionality of your brush strokes particularly in the background.

Very nice - this is my favorite of the three 'leaf' works you've put up thus far. I think the lighting, while excellent in the other two, is better in this piece. The clean definition of the chin and hands are particularly noticable and, to me, quite nice.

Interestingly, the light seems more textured than the skin/clothing of the figure or the leaf. Their (leaf and figure) textures seem almost random, while the light seems to be quite a bit less random and thought out....

hmmm... i see what you are saying. thanks for the advanced crit, as always! with the light, i was consciously blending a lot more. with the figure, i was blocking out areas of light and shadow and blending as i went. maybe that's why it's more random in the figure?

As always, glad to be helpful!

As to the blending, I'm not sure. I understand feathering and drybrushing, but I am not too good at blending, I fear...

blending is tricky. do too much, and things get muddy. but i love the effect.

I guess! *wry grin* As I said - afraid that's not a technique I feel at all confident in ocmmenting on... *shrug*

my colors :'D

I love what a cool effect (uh, both meanings) you got with purple, green and white. very unique. the posture on this one is quite interesting too. it feels very... energetic, which is not a trait one usually connects with cold winter... anyway, I think this one is my favorite so far ^_^

you are going crazy with those pastel crayons now! you go girl!

i used pastel pencils. traditionally, pastel works are called "paintings" because they are pure pigment and can be blended and worked just like paints, which is why i put them in the "paintings" category.

by the way I like the shados.. normally don't see those with these kinds of textured works.
