Well, ~Anyarr and I started doing speedpaints to challenge ourselves. Each week one of us comes up with a topic and we both have to illustrate it. Fast. The goal is to learn how to draw well in a limited time (and in my case, stop obsessing over imperfections
).This was the first task, with the topic "Draw part of the Avatar cast chilling in the Earth Kingdom after the war". AtLA was great and we wanted to give its characters some love (since everyone's talking about Korra now
). Also, smart people play pai sho.I'm not used to showing people my unfinished works and speedpaints. It makes me feel nervous and overexposed. Putting this work on dA is a big step for me and I'm actually ashamed of all the small mistakes and overall shittiness of the picture. I'm not used to drawing fast and it shows. Oh well. Time to work on my flaws a bit.
Next ones will be better, I hope.

Wow! This is truely amazing. You can obviously tell that Suki, Mai, and Toph are there but you put your own style on them and made them look a little different and I like that. Amazing job

I kind of like how you placed Toph and Mai together, like they became good friends after the war. That would be a cool plot development.

Your painting is amazing and beautiful, but what really got me was Toph touching Mai's shoulder. That's just... d'awwww!!!!! Also, the way Suki is holding that tile, I'm imagining a huge smirk on her face. Really good emotion, I love it!

It's not bad, really. The characters are really well matched. The only imperfection I can see is the unfluent colouring. And I think that's the only thing that requires the time you probably usually need.

Oj, przesadzasz, sama widziałam, że się z takimi wyrabiałaś szybko. Zresztą to przecież tylko chaotyczne maźnięcia.
A jak można mieć taką cierpliwość do lalek jak Ty, to ja chyba nigdy nie ogarnę.

Jakbyś widziała moją pracę dyplomową i ile mi ona czasu zajmuje, to byś zmieniła zdanie... Siedzę nad tym całymi dniami, a nawet jeszcze do najbardziej pracochłonnych części nie doszłam 
A do lalek (przynajmniej toolowych) nie potrzeba aż tyle cierpliwości, mały format = mało roboty XD

I think Toph never played pai sho when she lived with her parents, because everyone thought she's unable to recognize the pieces. A few days before this scene Sokka taught her the basics and she found it quite easy, so now she's eager to show off her skills. But since their strategies are too different (Toph plays very agressively and without any planning), Mai just smiles and does what she wants. And Suki has a good time watching.
Sokka will regret this later.

My three favourite girls! Minus Ty Lee but since Mai and Toph beat her this picture is PERFECT!!
I really like the ending with them all hanging around as friends in Iroh's tea shop.

These are my favourites too! And I really like how in the end both Mai and Suki were accepted by the group as more than just boys' grilfriends. The ending scene was really heartwarming.

I liked it too. I could totally see them all growing up together, doing great things and laughing and crying. But then again, who would not love Mai and Suki?

Yeah, I think she's good at analytical thinking. And well, if she managed to learn knife throwing out of boredom, then pai sho shouldn't be any problem.
