That is seriously jaw-dropping. This might be the coolest one you've done.

And I agree, that guy's costume is perfect for this monster.

I would love that to be the case. I do actually have some of my work in a web series, not sure if credited though, but meh, I have something going for me

That thing is CRAZY awesome man, I like how it's an actual functioning weapon unlike some people who just stick gears on to try and make something look steampunk.Β

And it's made out of metal and not foam or plywood! That's even better~

AetherAnvil In reply to S17s17 [2013-12-14 01:22:58 +0000 UTC]

Heh, appreciated

I agree, I really prefer metal, but I should get into trying plastic at some point. Once you go metal, it is hard to do anything else, just the feeling of real wood and metal makes it hard to consider anything else.

I will continue to try hard and get more and more functional weapons, I agree with you, gluing a gear on does no justice.

Gears work but the ratio was off, still fun to use though

IllEatYourself In reply to AetherAnvil [2014-09-15 04:30:26 +0000 UTC]

What do you mean by "the ratio was off"?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AetherAnvil In reply to IllEatYourself [2014-09-24 15:39:41 +0000 UTC]

I needed the handle spin to be higher than than the gear drive spin, it was the opposite

Aw darnit.

I have to wonder the point of splitting the blade though. Β Yeah, you can get someone between them and prevent them from ducking to the side or something, but that's the only benefit I can see.

That's some awesome work. Although when I saw that it split in two like that, I somehow thought of a garden bush trimmer for some reason.

I hate feeling like such a dope asking this but.... What's CAD? XD

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AetherAnvil In reply to Travtron7000 [2013-12-14 01:30:34 +0000 UTC]

Computer Aided Design, like AutoCad It is awesome to do precise math in a design, something about it makes items lookΒ  spot on and not all loose and sketchy. Not that there isn't a time and place for that, just with a precision piece it is important to be engineered.

RedW0lf777sg [2013-11-23 17:06:59 +0000 UTC]

Excellent design, mate. How long did it took you to make this? =3

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AetherAnvil In reply to RedW0lf777sg [2013-12-03 00:03:28 +0000 UTC]

As always, waay too long. About 40+ hours of CAD, another 20 of CAD tests, another 5 of machine pathing, a day to cut the misc pieces, a few hours to drill out the laser cut pieces (SWWJ rocks), another 2 days to assemble. Not too bad, but worth a small fortune now, another sword I am never going to sell

RedW0lf777sg In reply to AetherAnvil [2013-12-03 00:48:08 +0000 UTC]

Oh my...that is a lot of work. Maybe you should considered making for steampunk weapons for sale, just so you could recoup your costs in making your other weapons, mate. <=3

I love this as a hobby, not a business I would be so broke if I tried. One day maybe, but it really is so expensive to make this stuff. Thankfully there are so many cool ideas and designs floating around out there. I really want to make more of your weapons!

RedW0lf777sg In reply to AetherAnvil [2013-12-14 02:29:34 +0000 UTC]

Oh, really now, so you want to make another weapon base on one of my designs, eh? Alright than, if you want to do that than feel free to ask me. So which one to you want to make? =3

AetherAnvil In reply to RedW0lf777sg [2013-12-14 15:24:23 +0000 UTC]

The third down from the top, elegant sabre: redw0lf777sg.deviantart.com/ar…

I think I would like to try and tackle something that is simple, yet elegant, and that fits the mark. Time frame, no idea, but I would like to do that one sometime.

Do you have any suggestions of ones you want to see built?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RedW0lf777sg In reply to AetherAnvil [2013-12-14 16:39:40 +0000 UTC]

Well, mate, that one sword you pick out is actually a part of a two sword set. it's meant to be dual wield with the 1st top sword and in this fighting pose are here: 1. img.photobucket.com/albums/v35… 2. static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub…

So you think you can make a both of them? You can as much time as you want, just make sure you give me a WIP report once awhile, alright. =3

Oh, the character? Well that's Vyse from the role-playing video game, "Skies of Arcadia" which was first on the Sega Dreamcast and then later on imported to the Nintendo Gamecube. if you want to know more about the game, than here's some info on it, it's a really good game, mate:Β en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skies_of…
