We're a little nervous about posting this because we always feel that there are a million people on this site that can explain something and pull it off better than we can, however we made this up for a friend of ours to explain something and it seems a waste to just let it sit there and not share.This is the way we separate our lineart or inks from a page. This is after we've penciled and inked them traditionally.
Any typos or errors is all on us, we've had two people look over it but that doesn't mean something isn't wrong.
We tried to make it simple and easy to follow and a pleasure to view and read.
Please post any questions, we'll do our best to answer them and/or clarify things for you. It's hard to put this stuff in words.
Also, this tutorial uses Photoshop CS3, we've been told it works in other versions as well.

Some one might say it better, but they did not, you did the work, even thought I use a different program, I found some good info.

Step five? Hmm, that's odd. Is your picture really messy? Or have you added any pencil shading in to the piece?

i got it onto the computer but i can't find channels

You may need to go to 'window' and select 'channels' if you don't have the channel window open. Otherwise, it's general grouped with layers.

Pretty sure this is my new favorite way to do lineart. It'll take me a while to remember all the steps, but I like it a lot. Thanks SO much for sharing!

Yay! I'm so glad it works! When I was first figuring it out I had to keep sticky notes with the steps on them. Otherwise, I'd forget which order to do things in and get confused. ^_^

all the time IΒ΄ve been using the idiot-solution of simply marking the lines separately and filling in the black color - I think your solution is far superior to that^^
