Maybe, though to be honest I only watched the movie once and was only half paying attention so I don't know what it was about their performances in that movie that I liked. Though for Keanu, I bet it had something to to with him being an alien and so an uncharismatic monotone was fitting.

yeah, I mean Smith has a bit of a monotone himself, but its not because Hugo Weaving can't voice act, in fact BECAUSE he can act. I wouldn't call it a monotone either, more of a specific cadence based on the fact that he isn't human, Neo has no excuse.

He does expressions just fine, but he never has any vocal emotion that I've seen.
As I said, for whatever reason I support Smith/Trinity. It probably has to do with the fact that I am an avid Villain/Heroine shipper across the board, but I think it also has to do with the whole Smith is Neo's Opposite and Negative. I think they wasted a good plot point with that, having Smith interested in Trinity would have been a great twist.
