Description
Whooo. Finally made some more artwork. This piece is quite large, (16 inches by 20 inches) and is done in soft pastel. This is not to say I haven't been creating artwork; it's just that what I draw is sketchy stuff in my lined notepad that would not be at all suitable for dA. I've suddenly got a lot more people to draw though, being in college practically all day.
This is a deviant stock from [link]
and . Much thanks!
Comments welcome, of course. ^.^

I really love the title of this one. You have some really amazing titles for some of your stuff here on dA, Jill! I'm such a sucker for good titles, haha.

Well, coming up with good titles is sometimes the hardest part . . . . Go figure!

It has real strenght... It hit the watcher!
That's why I like it very much: soft colours, strong meaning.
Great work <3

Thank-you for the comment! ^.^ After my drawing class this semester I'm sure I could do better redrawing it since we concentrated so much on form and substance and how to draw the body. Actually, my final two days from now we'll be drawing a model in class for two hours.

My pleasure!
This is really interesting, I've always loved drawing classes, even if I prefer looking at other artists than do some art by myself XD Good luck with it!

This is a very lovely pastel - it very much has an art nouveuu look. You accented the very graceful curve of her back with that deep dark brown and connected it to her hair. I agree with others about her skin tone and softness. Nice. Suggest that you try more, but with live models - most likely you have open life studio access on your campus.

Although, thanks for the comments about the pastels. I really enjoy using them!

Huh, well, actually we don't have a figure drawing class. The college I attend doesn't have very many art courses at all, just art history and computer graphics courses. >.< Which is why I'm getting my associate in arts before moving on to a better college with more art classes. :-D

Thank-you! Yes, that was one of the reasons I picked the photo to work from. My mother looked at it and the first thing she said was 'is she crying? are those *bruises?'* which was not the point that I wanted to get across at all. >.< . . . .

I understand you. Not always the spectators sees what we try to transmit with our work.
But, that's the magic of this... to touch other people and provoke them a lot of deferents sensations.

Thank-you very much. I'm glad that you like it; it was a little challenging. ^.^ Maybe I will do some more artwork when I get home this afternoon from college.

Thank you, I'm pleased that you like it. ^.^ The skin was a bit difficult to tone-- I'm running out of good colors in my half-stick pastel set. >.<
