Rafiki slowly walked to the place he was afraid to visit. He knew that he had to, even if it was hard. The King was dead, and it was his duty to pray over his soul to the Great Kings of the Past.
As he was getting closer to the body laying in front of him, he felt strange thrills on his back. Was that a movement? But it’s impossible, it could not happen… He took one more step and his heart started to beat faster. The King slowly stood up, but he fell immediately. ‘He’s alive. Mufasa is alive’ Rafiki thought and a smile appeared on his face. It disappeared very quickly though, as soon as he realized his King is very weak and may not survive without proper help.
The monkey was stronger than anyone would think. It was challenging, but he managed to slowly transport the body to the nearest oasis. He gave the lion some water and took care of him, waiting for him to wake up. It took two days and two nights, but finally he opened his eyes.
‘Where am I?’ he asked with his voice quiet and weak.
‘Shh… You need rest’ Rafiki answered. It was obvious Mufasa couldn’t get back now. Rafiki could see what was happening. If he would try to get back and meet his brother, he’d have another bad accident. And this time he may not be that lucky. It may take months for the King to get better, but all there’s left is waiting.

A rough lion was walking through grasses. One look at him was enough for Rafiki – he has found the lost prince.
‘Wait here’ he told Mufasa. The King was doing much better than he used to, but he will never return to his previous strength and power. He had to hide, knowing what’s happening to his pride, but if he would try to come back Scar and his hyenas would kill him right away.
The Monkey passed the bushes and watched Simba laying down by the river.

‘You knew my father?’ prince Simba asked in amuzement.
‘Correction. I know your father’ said Rafiki, keeping his eyes closed.
‘I hate to tell you this, but he died. A long time ago.’
‘No! Wrong again, hahaha’ Rafiki got up and jumped toward the bushes ‘He’s alive and I’ll show him to you. Follow old Rafiki, he knows the way’
Rafiki started his way through the bushes. He knew the prince would follow him, so he didn’t look back. When he arrived, he showed Mufasa to keep quiet. Simba walked out of the bushes and saw a lion figure in front of him. He thought he was in danger and wanted to make his way back.
‘Stop’ Rafiki said ‘Come back here.’
Mufasa already knew who he was. He started to smile. ‘You’re alive’ he thought ‘You are really here with me.’
‘This is your father.’

It's an entry for *Twitterlu contest. When I was a kid I always bealived that when Rafiki shows Simba 'the way' he's really gonna lead him to his father and together they would fight Scar. As you know he did not, but I still remember my thought from when I watched The Lion King for the first time.

I'm sorry for such a long story, usually I'm not too fond of writing (you can see I'm not a good writer either) but this picture took me so long that I wanted it to have a proper story. As you see, I had to skip some parts anyway.
Why do I say it took me long? Let me sum up.

AND it was my very first time drawing Rafiki, first time drawing Mufasa full body and I guess the second time drawing full body Simba.

So yeah, I really hope it's gonna do well in the contest... Basicly because that was hell lots of work.
