Description
Australia - 1.5 million years agoIn my own version, this is the fifth episode of Walking with Prehistoric Beasts 2. On the sun-baked, continental island of Australia, 1.5 million years ago, much of those unique animal species became isolated themselves from the mainland before the arrival of modern human beings. Although there are no dinosaurs around since the end of the Cretaceous, 99.9% were marsupial mammals, and 50% of birds and reptiles, but here, one creature in that time was lurking in the shadows, waiting for the taste of flesh. Megalaina, a.k.a. the Giant Goanna or Ripper Lizard, is the awesome king of the beast.
1) Giant Goanna (Megalania prisca)
2) Thunder Duck (Dromornis australis)
3) Giant Wombat (Diprotodon optatum)
4) Short-Faced Kangaroo (Procoptodon goliah)
5) Marsupial Lion (Thylacoleo carnifex)

Apparently the original WWB intended to have an Australian episode but it was scrapped. This will do nicely.
