Description
EDIT 2: DA has heard us! They made some changes and now it's no need to click to see the artist's comments. I've seen the change a few times. However, I've heard that some beta testers still see the more button so I guess DA's still working on the change.Thank you DA for listening to us!
EDIT: The news article about this is out now! Your support by faving and/or commenting is highly appreciated and needed here [link] Every fave and comment counts..
Thank you very much!
DA plans to hide the artist's comments in version 7 released now to beta testers. If you're a beta tester and do not want your comments hidden then please post a comment on the forum and let DA know it! [link]
I for one, do not agree with hiding the artist comment box. It shouldn't be hidden. If you don't want to read it , ignore it. But that is part of my PIECE and I want that part to BE SEEN not HIDDEN.
What will happen when we add thumbs and no one will see them? Because I'm 100% sure that people WILL NOT click that button just to read the comments. So there...and it goes further than that...credits, copyrights, stamps, thumbs, dedications, lyrics, and so on...is DA becoming like photobucket or flickr? Why is the comment box still there anyway? No one will ever bother reading it anymore!...
We are a community, we are here to share our work, interact with others, help expose other fellow deviants but how can we still do that if no one will see our comments? Now DA has found a better way to help support each other..by hiding the artist's comments! Nice!that was sarcasm btw

I don't really understand why it's so terrible to put comments away. People who want to read click it, and most won't read indeed. As they don't at this moment. So nothing changes. The next DA looks more professional, which is positive.

Have a look at the following Group:
Just get an idea of what the system is.
The guy who came up with the idea got a DD for the idea.:
[link]
dA thought it was a good thing to do.
The 'more' button kills the idea.
Think about including other artist's thumbs in your artist comment box so that people can have a look at some deviant's work. No-one would even know you'd helped someone.
And user-scripts can ALWAYS be written [and will be] in order to automatically keep comments turned off/on. So why not just leave the option open?
I don't know. Maybe this comment made you think about a thing or two. If not, no worries.

Because the purpose of DA isn't to look professional. It's an art site, DA's purpose was/is to share our art, interact with others and support our fellow deviants. Now, how can we still support others if no one will see the thumbs I will add in my artist's comment box? Did they think of that? NO!
All they want now is to look professional and they tend to forget that people are lazy, no offense and they WON'T click that button. Imagine yourself having to constantly click on that button a few hundreds time a day...not that nice, waste of time...
It seems that DA is becoming more of a business then an art sharing site...and that's very sad! I have strong arguments and believe that hiding the artist's comment won't do any good to anyone!
We, the artists write in that comment box things that are part of our piece and it's disrespectful to hide that! It's not only my opinion, you know?

I don't need to watch other people's comment, so to me it will look better. Deviantart is about showing art, not reading comments. But you can have other point of views about that.

That is just saddening. I'm also a bit irritated. Wait, no. Magnify that a hundred times, and you'll know how much I feel.
For some Deviants, the Artist's Comment is the piece of art. I've seen other writers who submit a stock image and write down their story or poem in the Comments box. For you, maybe, it's a little thing. For them, it's one of the biggest reasons why they are still in DA.
Okay, maybe you'll say that they should write where the writing should be; but what they do is part of their style, something that DA is considering on taking away.

what about 'copyright' stamps?
And quite a few other things actually. You're right. Of course you're entitled to your opinion.
Some of my photos are accompanied by poems. I'd be sad if no-one knew about them.

"Little" is a highly subjective opinion. Please respect =Ailedda 's right to have an opinion - calling it a "fuss about the little things" is judgemental and rude.

I can understand that for some people the hiding of the artist's comment box isn't a big problem, but many artists feel that they are losing part of what makes their artwork meaningful - and unfortunately it hinders things such as promotions (such as contet entires) and linking systems as well.

You're right. It DOES look neater. But things like a poem that goes along with the photo, photomanips stock credits, copyrights and a bunch more...won't even know about it.
You're right about dA being about art. But many comments can be part of the artist's art, or piece or whatever. Anyway...
