Description Please bear with my not so good english and expressions =_=

You may need to get more familiar with photoshop functions to understand what I am doing. There are many good basic tutorials out there

Also, photoshop is merely a tool. To make good pictures you need skills. Practice makes perfect ^^

***********************************************

I forgot to mention a very important step when I wrote this tutorial >>> the level tool @_@!

[link]

Right after you scan the image, select the level tool from image>>adjustment>>levels. Slide the white arrow to the left for clean background and gray arrow to the right for darker lines. Then carry on with the amendments

Thank you so much!!! The only problem is I don't know how to seperate white from lineart in SAI and i don't think they have channels in my photoshop elements.

Awesome tutorial! Do you think you will ever have time to do a hair tutorial? I personally like the way you color your hair more than anyone else. XD I just can't get smooth lines, so I use the water color tool on SAI or the pen tool. ;A; I can't ever get the pointy parts of the shading without the pen tool though.

mande-chan [2009-04-03 07:02:43 +0000 UTC]

How do you get the lines so perfect? O_O Mine always look all scraggly even when edited. Is it because I make lines too fat (my lines are pretty fat)? Do you make them thin and try not to erase? Or should I do further editing (help please)? Sorry for all the questions, it's just I really want to make perfect lineart and my tablet driver doesn't work with my PC, so I can't use pressure sensitivity. Thank you!

airmi In reply to mande-chan [2009-04-03 16:38:49 +0000 UTC]

basically they are pencil lines O_O
i just did them on large paper like A4 or even A3 and 0.3mm sharp pen~

mande-chan In reply to airmi [2009-04-05 23:12:28 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I'm going to look for a light box somewhere because I don't have one... Then I can make definite, thin lines. But do you say you go over with pen? Maybe that's why my lines look funny. I might need much more practice with pen... But would the lines still look good if I just used the pencil and scanned or would you highly suggest going over with pen? Again, sorry for the questions!

oh nono, sharp pen means mechanical pencil~ so it is just pencil~

I really do adore this tutorial. (: Very very helpful. I was just wondering how you can scan with a 600dpi setting? ): I been trying to look how to change it, but no luck.

I really don't use my scanner since I draw most of my art on Photoshop.

So, if you are able to tell me, that would be awesome. If not, then thanks anyways. =^-^=
