OOooo, bursting, .. niiiice light source ajax!!! Cosmic stuff!
I think this has a nice and commanding presence, but that the colors that look as though they are reflecting above and off of the render are taking away from the power of the piece.
I'll explain my very huuuuuuuumble opinion
Without the pink hues bouncing about, the render would be a strong set of forms throughout the piece. Maybe even darkening up the renders outside of the main light pulse and letting the 2d do a lil of a the work for the outer regions would add to this seen of energy rebirth.
Like I said, great bursting energy pulse!!!
Will have eyes ready for the finish.
