I never seen anything like it. A painting portrait of Apple Jack and Rarity? This is so outstanding! I like how you image the environment with bright green colors, mixing with a little bit of light blue and dark scenery in to your fabulous and luminous artistic creation. The clouds are all right, but work on them a little more, like make them appear even more in the sky. For the two characters in this painting really capture the details on what is happing. Apple Jack's smiling expression very priceless and Rarity's looks amazingly glorious. This is the most outstanding master piece ever.

To the talented ayyJVLmaoo,
The good:
Lovely brushwork. The seemingly whimsical dabs and splotches used to render the landscape lend a lively feeling to the piece overall that is anchored nicely by the simplistic shading on the two ponies. Hitting this stride takes a certain confidence in your ability is all too easily lost in the pressure to make things look "nice". At least, that's my experience with trying this kind of painterliness. The piece makes a great first, second, and even third impression.
The could be improved:
Cute pony + solidly done scenery is a winning combination and will continue to be so. Not super original, but trying to be overly original for originality's sake is what gave us hipsters and people who think they're wolves inside or something. That being said, it would be nice to see some deeper storytelling in your work, beyond catching a character or two striking a pose in the mid-ground.
Specific to this, the far left side of the composition feels a touch empty and disjointed from the rest. The background behind the foreground trees makes a sudden transition from warm greens and yellows to much darker tones, that is split nearly perfectly by the foreground trees, which makes it feel like a separate picture. I think you could crop off most of that side, but if you like the width, I'd fill in the left foreground more by thickening the trees and adding some more foliage. The right foreground also feels heavy on the black/blue, perhaps throw in some different forms like bushes or ferns to break it up.
TL;DR: Great execution on a solid idea, work on adding more interest beyond great technique. 9001/10 wish I could art like that.
Signed,
Lukaaayne

I absolutely adore this peice! I have question however, despite my efforts I am seriously struggling to emulate the brush style of this peice. Could you maybe give me a hand with brush settings?Β

I adore this piece. It really captures what a real Equestria would look like, at least I think. The lighting is superb!Β

What do you use to paint? A software in particular, or just a few special brushes?
I really like how the brush textures bring out the idea of "less is more", as the simplicity, yet thought-out strokes, greatly define the textures and the details of every element in the scenery. The color mood could be a little better in the transitions, but who am I to talk about that. xD
Oh, and Rarity and AJ look super-neat, as well. Applejack seems to be projecting her inner Daenerys, though. xD

Just photoshop and a bit of custom brushes.
I would only recommend others to use custom brushes if they know what they are painting. I try to rely less on custom brushes these days because I wanna teach myself to actually paint those details out. Its important to know the details you are painting and not just splat some green paint using a heavily customized texture and call it grass.Β

Preachin' to the choir, there.
I got a couple of nifty custom brushes that allowed me easier gradient painting, but it was only when I began training with default brushes that I got the know-how and practice to use the custom ones.

Thank you!
I feel it could be better though. So far I'm still a little messy with the brush strokes. Β

This looks great!
Since you're practicing brush stroke economy, do you have any tips on that?

Pay very careful attention to the way things flow and the softness of their edges. For example, grass flows up and sways a little, right? So, imitate that action with your brush strokes.

Great to see others getting inspired by WhiteDiamondsLtd as well . When I saw this I admit it was one of the first things I thought of, so I had to check if that was the case.
Never enough cute happy stuff

Its beautiful. Very nicely done. I just wonder why you made Applejack's hair kind of pink. It looks out of place when nothing else has a pinkish tinge to it.
