Found this though Neighsayer's song. Awesome art! I love it so much. The sharp colouring of her mane looks really nice, and fits with the style.
However, there is some banding going on in the sky. Gotta send you this tutorial if you decide on using gradients in future works:

Verrry cool art!Β It's already in my desktop background folder for rotation. c:Β Β Favourite part has to be just the setting, dawn, glints of what I can think is either weed seeds, bugs or both, and AJ's mane blowing in the wind as she awaits a full day of bucking apples ^_^Β marvelous!Β Also love how much you've really used the total depth of field in the image, the foreground grass blurred out, AJ and some of the grass in perfect focus and then distant mountains and apple trees and then even /more/ distant mountains and apple trees hehe..Β ^_^ and of course really cool colours for the sky, and how the cloud bottoms are lighted too. Very cool!

An Earth Pony is one with the land around her. She feels its rhythms, its cycles and its needs.Β
A strangely peaceful image. You normally think if Applejack as being active and always moving around doing stuff but even she has to pause for a moment at the start of the new day and give thanks for everything she has.

This is wonderful, her mane flowing in the breeze as it whips up the loose chaff, the subtle layering and gently tapered backdrop. Truly inspiring work, now you've gone and made me avoid sleeping because I have to draw AJ too

I know it's called "First Light", but this reminds me of the sunsets back home. Love the colors and shading you used here, and the blurred grass in the foreground really adds to the perspective.
