Description
Pixeling in Paint Tool SaiI hope I did ok explaining how I did things, I'm really bad at explaining.
As for shading, I know I didn't really say anything or explained it too well, but you just really need to know your light source.
I can't really tell you that...and I mostly color on instinct. Usually I color in places that looks right to me, and darken
areas that looks like it should be darkened.
This is just a general idea of my process of pixeling, even I don't have a set order.
As you can see I go back and change things up a lot.
Enjoy my crappy tutorial!

Sorry for the late reply, but I'm sure there are free programs out there you can use to pixel. Such as Fire Alpaca (if it's still availabe)
I believe it has a pixel tool, and I'm sure it was free!Β

Instead of duplicating brushes to make erasers out of them you can also click the checkered box right here: gyazo.com/c61b98fcb7fae18f481e⦠Hope this helps! 8D

most definitely!
i do have one question though, sorry if this was covered somewhere in the tutorial, but--is there an easy way to change the color of the different parts of the lineart, like without having to go in and individually re-pixel with the binary brush or paintbucket-fill the individual lines?
i'm still kinda new to SAI so im sure there's some easy way to do this.. ._.

To answer your question, what i usually do is, I turn on the Preserve Opacity, and just control F, to fill it in. If that made any sense, it should just fill the pixels in where you drew. And turn it off if you need to draw on that layer again.

m2dope In reply to akifei [2013-05-21 21:23:03 +0000 UTC]
ahh ok yeah i understand, like 'preserve opacity' means it won't color in the transparent parts, yes?
thank you!
