Description
This is a sprite of Chaos Zero from Sonic Adventure, part of my latest series of sprites involving Chaos. My next piece will be a 960x640 in-game concept screenshot of Perfect Chaos fighting Sonic, and will feature a similar progression GIF as this one, but will be much more detailed and larger.This is how my workflow works.
1 - Silhouette of sprite's general design.
2 - Color selection and general shading.
3 - Precise detailing.
4 - Anti-aliasing and adaptive dithering.
5 - post-processing and color correction.

Very nice.
I love the dull tones used for the pallet, I always think of him as a bright glowing cyan; but I must say that the shading method used here makes the grey tones seem very fitting.

In the official art he's bright cyan, but I always found him too bright, so he's duller here to match the more gray diffuse light he's normally around.

I love Perfect Chaos! He's so badass! Is he going to be like the one from Sonic Adventure or from Sonic Generations? Either way he's still awesome!

I'm going for the look that was in the intro movie from Sonic Adventure, rather than the Sonic Generations one. To me, that one looks better than all the designs of Perfect Chaos out there. ;D

That's your workflow?
I find that this works best for me, since It clearly defines everything, and all you're doing is just going through it over and over, adding more and more detail, sort of how 3D Rendering is done in Cycles. In fact, I find that this is used by a lot of artists in PixelJoint, albeit with broader brush strokes and far less anti-aliasing.
