Hey look, it's ClefairyKid! Wassaap. Recognize your name whenever saw a pixel art daily feature.
Thanks, every leaf had to be hand drawn. @_@

very nice. I'm just getting into spriting in a big way, and still have trouble fathoming how i'd go about working out something like that. Max resolution I've worked in so far is 128 square. 256 or higher is daunting, to say the least. Figure 128 is good enough for now, as I'm also animating most of them. Looks great. May just follow that project of yours.

Wait till you see my next sprite piece dude, it's 960x640! xD
You just have to jump into it really, and try to treat a sprite as a painting rather than just a small game asset. I'd suggest working on sprites in respect to the overall resolution of the game on the screen. For example, the game this is being developed for is mainly for the Nexus 4/Galaxy S3, so I'm working on it with a 640x360 resolution, double the actual size of the screen, so my sprites have to be this big or scaling will just make it look too pixely.
I love pixel art, but one has to maintain a balance of what pixels are easy to see and blend and those that are meant to anti-alias. Check out my tutorial sprite on Chaos Zero to see my workflow.

Thanks dude! The whole game's going to look even better than this, especially with all the animations and sfx! :3
It's coming for PC/Android soon! I'll be posting more details later, but let me just say, it's a Monster based tactical RPG. :3

It'll be announced in detail later this year, and I intend for a release sometime in fall 2014. It won't be free, but will have free demos for PC/Mac/Linux/HTML5 as well as lite Android/iOS versions.

Every single leaf was carefully drawn out. Tried a bunch of ways to do this, but to be honest, there's no other way to draw a tree but to do every leaf individually, or at least a few in clusters behind a silhouette. D:
