Description
baby black widows are knownto float - to alight on you
to ride you home
to grow -
to lurk -
hungrily
to birth more young
right where you live
dozens of them
to grow -
to lurk -
hungrily
they seem to have no plan
for now
except...
to grow -
to lurk -
hungrily

Paronoria consumes optimism.illegal drugs can be the bullets of this terrible curse which can manifest into hallucination, hence the schizophrenic.Combine these two together and we become fully detached from reality and the spirit loses control of the brain. The brain becomes an auto pilot, latching on to anything negative for the eyes to witness and the heart to feel.

Have you even seen a nest of black widows?
I have - in beautiful Bountiful Utah
Found one in my bed once, under the covers,
in Bristol CT. She was only half grown, but...
jeez. Now I check my bed every night.
faved? - yup. - thanks!

The repetition really works here; solidifies the creepiness. Good thing I'm not afraid of spiders.

those occasional little filaments of web you walk into:
in the USA, that's most likely a tiny black widow 'traveling'.

Baby black widows as a metaphor. Perfect.
As an aside, who told you I was paranoid? Why would they say that? What do you think it means? Where are they now, and what do they want with me?

Baby black widows as a metaphor for black feelings, you know - the ones you don't see coming, the ones that alight on you when you're not expecting them and follow you home toΒ to grow,Β to lurk...hungrily.Β

when I was a kid, my dad used to take me and my sister once a year around the back yard to find and destroy black widow spiders and their nests. I had no fear then, maybe because my dad didn't.Β this poem isΒ more like I'd feel today. thanks for making it so - brr.

sometime, i'll have to write about

luckily, they're slow, otherwise
i never would have gone to bed.
the other night, i flipped the
covers back before climbing in
and guess what strode out from
underneath and right across
the middle of the bed while i
was scrambling for a tissue to
squash it in? yup - it was small,
but even so...

not so brave, actually. i carefully
looked under the covers, and with a
flashlight, looked under the bed.
generally, there's only two or three
a year, usually in the bathtub a
small one trying fruitlessly to climb
out...
now, out in Salt Lake City i found a
couple the size of my little finger tip,
[both outside, one surrounded by her
family]. shudder...

Because it does reflect the sheer ickiness that is spiders. Are you catching them in glass jars again?
π: 0 β©: 1
alapip In reply to avfc4me [2013-03-11 19:01:22 +0000 UTC]
no, got tired of that. they wouldn't eat,
just crawled around starving.
now, on the occasion when i find one
in the bath tub doggedly, [spideredly?],
trying to climb out i just catch her/him
in a tissue, drop in the toilet and flush.
my apartment stays pretty much devoid of
insects of every ilk. those pest repellors
work so well i have them in every room.
they even keep my neighbors at bay. if i
got lonely, i'd unplug 'em. but, i don't.
so, i won't.
