y con respecto al sculpey,yo lo uso por la cualidad que tiene de que se puede hornear y pintar despues,lo cual hago mucho con otro tipo de piezas; los modelos para 3D por lo general me los piden monocromo; e incluso llego a usar plastilina para hacerlos.
como sea ya tu veras que te sirve mejor; el sculpey lo puedes conseguir en las tiendas de manualidades El Nuevo Fenix, cuando he andado por alla visito la tienda que esta en Carranza, a unas cuadras del zocalo. Aunque hay varias en el df checa cual te queda cerca [link]
la plastilina que uso es la Sculptor, y la barra es mas grande que las normales, su consistencia es mejor y el color terracota es el ideal para estos trabajos, pues tanto el terracota como el gris te dan buena idea de los volumenes al modelar.
es esto te sirva o te de una idea...

well, belive or not; I star 2 days before of the deadline contest...and work in it continuously to the end..
maybe if I had begun working with much longer, could give more detail, for stark contrast to the lower body of the character, does not have a skin textures, but hey, "if I had..." not exist....

somehow the Ugly Fish head doesnt seem to fit, but im sure the head will look perfect if rendered with color, and maybe more armor on the lower half, def a good submission for the contest
