Description On the morning of November 15th, 2026, word had broke out across social media in the UK that James, Prince of Wales since 2003, had taken ill at Birkhall, with members of the Royal Family rushing to be there. As it was the tenth anniversary of the death of Clara, Princess of Wales, many thought that it was likely that James would pass soon. He had been well loved in the public mind, as many saw him as a greater alternative to his brother, Charles. At 15:15 GMT, a statement was issued that James had passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 77. The cause of death was determined to be Congestive Heart Failure, with a stroke and kidney failure being contributing factors.

Queen Elizabeth II and King Philip II of the UK, both 100 and 105 years old respectively, released a statement, which highlighted the grief the two faced, but that they would move forward, as their son would've wanted them to. [Note: The two would both pass away on September 8th, 2028.] The state funeral would see over 10 million people attending the state funeral, with an estimated 102 Heads of State attending, making it the largest funeral of the 21st Century. Many who passed the coffin merely wept tears and some were just overwhelmed with grief at the sight of the casket, which was open at the Prince's request. His firstborn child, the 62 year old King John I of Australia was comforting his sixty year old sister Mara, who was now Heir Apparent to the Throne.

After the service, the casket was taken by train from London all the while to Windsor Castle, where it was taken by carriage to St. George's Chapel. His eldest brother Charles led the casket, the six pallbearers being the six younger siblings of James. His decorations and awards were on displayed, eulogies given, and the final bagpipe was played as the casket was lowered to the vault below. Later in the day, away from cameras, the caskets of James and Clara were taken to a special gravesite in the chapel and laid to rest together with their son Edric, who died in 2023 at the age of 53 from liver cancer.
