ing tutorial, I can't congratulate you enough for your skills and your common sense in taking on the problem about "you should do dragons ONLY like this". Great advices and techniques, it really helped me a lot. Thank you.

Modern-Myths In reply to ??? [2008-02-20 04:10:06 +0000 UTC]

You did an excellent job. I love the bones and muscles. But I have a small problem with your walk cycle. The arms, legs, hands, and feet. But everything else is just motionless. There should be some bobbing with the head, winds, and tail. And some movement with the body also. Other then that. Awsome JOB!!!!!!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

alecan In reply to Modern-Myths [2008-02-20 12:09:17 +0000 UTC]

yes, I am aware of that it's not a prefect walk cycle, I skipped the body movements just beacuse that would have made it much timaecraving to do

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Modern-Myths In reply to alecan [2008-02-23 05:35:52 +0000 UTC]

Oh I bet. I had to do all of that for one of my models. But a great reference.

darthaardvark [2008-02-19 08:02:37 +0000 UTC]

pretty nice, i like how you actually go into the anatomical structure of it. something which people seem to neglect.
however I think the walk cycle seems a bit off, a little too "tall." It doesn't seem to give the appearance of much weight...

just my rambling opinion though

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

alecan In reply to darthaardvark [2008-02-19 11:14:02 +0000 UTC]

yeah you're right. It doesn't. But as I said in the tutorial, this is not in any way the "right" or "only" way to draw dragons, so if someone else where to do a walk cycle they can do it with more wieight if they want

oh my god this is going to be sooo helpful.
see,i'm designing a dragon/human creature (much like a centaur, except it's dragon, not horse) for the book i'm writing and i'm having issues with the legs and scales.this will undoubtedly help.
(by the way...what would you call a dragon/human creature?)

For some reason, I like the "Dragon Walk" you have at the end - a spiffy touch! It would be cute to have a dragon walk faster like how a horse trots.... but than again, I like horses a lot.....

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

alecan In reply to RedFyreDragon [2008-02-19 11:15:28 +0000 UTC]

yeah I was thinking about doing some running and galopping dragon cycles to in the future. Maybe for my next tutorial

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

alecan In reply to GravihK [2008-02-19 11:17:02 +0000 UTC]

nope. But you can find similar things in there, like a dragon taking of for flight, but it doesn't look like this. So no, this is not in the draconomicon book. (I would have loved if it was though )

Amazing tutorial! Not only do you try to teach, you try to connect and help people see how they can relate this to things they are familiar with (i.e. cats and such). It's also quite educational with anatomy and everything. I commend you, excellent tutorial indeed.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

alecan In reply to Demonic-Werewolf-88 [2008-02-19 11:19:18 +0000 UTC]

no not directly. I guess it might seem like that since I get a lot of inspiration for my dragons from Todd lockwoods art. But if you look closer you'll see some big differences between my dragons and the DnD ones
