Description The creation:
Yuya is a priestess of water. Although she has nearly no fighting skills, she's still a capable healer and has high endurance.

Creators Note:
This MOC broke my mind more than once. Pretty much every part of her body had to be rebuild a few times. Working on Toa-scale MOC made the armoring and preserving flexibility a whole lot more difficult. I worked with some different ways of joint connections this time; the rotation points for her shoulders are located near her back in order to gain more room to move and the hip joints are actually a system of three rotation axes in order to gain three dimensional moveability without taking up the space of a ball joint connection system would need. The rest of the joints are normal ball joint connections. Through this MOC, I also started to realize that it helps my MOCing to have pauses between MOCing sessions.

I haven't seen those colors being used in a color scheme yet, so I wanted to try it out. I wasn't totally sure with the head, because I used many parts purely as accessory.

I think it's a pretty usual magical girl pose xD

Feel free to use techniques from her, I don't mind, because not really using any certain techniques myself, I'm just coming up with the connections I need at the moment when I build

Wow. Chun-Li looks great. I mean Yuya. This is really cool, and that's definitely the most inspired use of Kakama I've ever seen, but I'm really curious: was Chun-Li from Street Fighter a conscious inspiration? I might be up all night wondering.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Alex-Darkrai In reply to Lewanut [2013-03-27 09:59:20 +0000 UTC]

I haven't actually played any street fighter games ever xD
Of course I know the character, but it wasn't really intentionally inspiration ^^
It's more that I think around what kind of character I want to create and what related properties I can think of. It happens a lot that there are associations with other characters xD

0fTheLion [2013-03-26 21:23:06 +0000 UTC]

I like the use of the rust color; it's kind of like the water rusted whatever iron parts she had on. It really ties into the whole water theme nicely, IMHO, whether it was intentional or unintentional.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Alex-Darkrai In reply to 0fTheLion [2013-03-27 09:50:34 +0000 UTC]

It was ... both, I thought the colors work good together, because of that water&rust theme, but I didn't think as far as to see the idea of rusted armor. In that case, I should have added some silver or similar metal color to get the idea of rusted armor across, by showing some parts which haven't rusted yet.

0fTheLion In reply to Alex-Darkrai [2013-03-27 19:55:23 +0000 UTC]

I can see a resemblance between Yuya and the Aquarius Zodiarts from Fourze, both in physical design and powers.

Alex-Darkrai In reply to blazikenking [2013-03-27 09:46:17 +0000 UTC]

I have no idea about that xD
I kind of created a clichΓ© character here, with healing abilitie, water related and feminine. My first association was Katara from avatar ^^

Vedkarrtheunbroken [2013-03-26 20:01:07 +0000 UTC]

I like the legs and torso, they are feminine yet innovative.
The head isn't my fav, but it fits the style of the moc.
Personally I'm not a fan of the arms (because it looks like the elbows do not bend)

Overall, this is a great moc with wonderful feminine qualities and shaping, Well done!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Alex-Darkrai In reply to Vedkarrtheunbroken [2013-03-27 09:41:09 +0000 UTC]

Thanky you
Yeah, the head is a little overdone, I had a simpler version to begin with and also tried a whole lot around, but most head designs didn't satisfy me, because they didn't look feminine enough.
The arms were all right for me in the end, it was difficult to get those upper arms connected to the lower arms and this version looked the best, the don't bend too much, but the rotation possibilities make a little up for that ^^
