Yeah, that's a only a good thing to have in a battle, even if you're type is the wrong one against your opponent they don't know what type of move set you have.

But that's both good and bad for the opponent and your Pokemon. Like Spring, she has a psychic move(s) but she's part grass. Against a Flying type her grass moves are useless, but that Pidgeotto didn't know she had a psychic move.
