Description
©2008 Alexander Nail. Do not use this image in any fashion without my prior permissionAlthough it has rained everyday for the last 20 days we did have a 24 hour spell of beautiful weather, which I spent camping at Tavy Cleave. I actually went on the trip to retake a composition I had found in bad weather, but when I found the heather further up the cleave that evening I resulved to get up and hike there in the morning where hopefully the rising sun would light the scene.
Shooting the heather with a rising sun will no doubt reduce Steve to tears, but he will have to get over it.

Fantastic shot. Brilliant location and use of light. Wish I could give a critique for you but I am self-learning and do not have the skills to critique. Love the depth of this shot. Normally i am not a fan of the (what I can only think of to call lens flare) around the sun but it works here. Im not talking about the rays of sunlight which are wonderful, I am talking about the circular glare around the sun.
Great capture.

Thanks very much. I wish I could get rid of that flare personally but I just can't and it is acceptable for this shot as you say.
As far as critiquing goes whilst I am not suggesting you do critique my images I would say that critique is a two way process. Whilst the obvious benefactor is the person whos image is critiqued I have often found critiquing the images of others to be a worthwhile process for myself. It gives you an appreciation of what it is you like and what is important to you in an image.

hmm... perhaps you have to use less glass as possible ...
What lens did you use?

My pleasure - it's an amazing photograph. I hate to disappoint you, but the title of the journal doesn't really mean anything specific. I was just trying to think up a title that matched my user name

Brilliant shot, great composition. The flare is indeed a bit distracting, but not enough to "spoil" the image . Reminds me of Austria... Great shot!

Great shot, and really well composed. I like the warm colors and lighting here too - I'm a sucker for crepuscular rays. Though I do think the slight lens flare is just a little distracting, it's not so bad. (:

yeah, its a shame about the flare, but unavoidable with the lens I was using with the sun locaiton as it is. Thanks for the comment.
