3D print from Shapeways of a bust I sculpted in Zbrush.  It's about 4.5 inches tall.  Here are the original 3D renders:

Here is the model on Shapeways:

I got a lot of help from Nicholas Lee with the photography.  Here is some of his work:

Could it be just me, but how come the 3D print seems not as a high resolution as your software rendering? Is it because of some restrictions you set for the 3D printer?

That's because of the limitations of the printer itself.  If I printed it at a larger size, it would have more detail, but it would also be very expensive.  It was quite expensive even at this small size.

Also, how large can you print with a 3D printer?

This print cost about 90 USD from Shapeways, and it's about 4.5 inches tall.  Prices may have come down since then.  It's hollow with thin walls, because the price is based on the volume of plastic.  Here are the guidelines at Shapeways:

Shapeways uses a laser sintering method which is very accurate but more expensive.  I think you can print much larger objects at lower cost using other methods, but I haven't spent much time looking into them.

What kinds of prices are there for printing?  I've just discovered ZBrush, and I'd like to print renderings.
