How did you get the picture to be so clear? What type of camera do you use?

This old shot was done with just Canon Powershot A650 in standard macro mode, without any additions. I applied noise removing with different settings at copies of image (strong for far background, medium for near and light for snowflake) and combined these variants with masks. For new snowflake shots i use reverse lens technique: Canon A650 at maximum optical zoom shoot through reversed lens Helios 44M-5Β  (from old USSR film camera Zenit). This gives very good magnification compared to standard macro mode, but narrow DOF (even at aperture f8, max f-number for my camera). I shoot short series of each snowflake (usually 8-10 shots, sometimes more) and later average them for better signal-to-noise ratio. I wrote small post about shooting in blogspot: chaoticmind75.blogspot.ru/2013…

Thanks! This shot was done with built-in Canon Powershot A650 optics, even without reversed lens add-on (which i use since last winter).
