~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I bowed to the horned god, asking it for passage,
For in this city of the ancients, where time stood still,
any travelers that steered from the path, were known to have been consumed by the invisible demons... their hair falling out, possibly from the horror of what they've seen.
Here, even in spring, autumn and winter persisted- some trees leaf-less and some eternally orange in their colors, a strange and wondrous sight.
love the way you've managed to get the buildings to look like they're in the foreground and the background at the same time. From the top of the piece it looks so bleak, but as you scroll down there's a brighter feel.
A wonderful transition from dark to light.
From the top a dark today and past, but as we move further forward (or down the picture) a brighter tomorrow.
Why is it all of your pieces suddenly give me all these wonderful emotions, and make me think so deeply?
It's such a great feeling, they make me smile.
Thank you.
Whoa, the building in the front sits right across the street from me. It's kinda creepy to see it so ruined like this...
Amazing work, btw. I'm having fun exploring your gallery.
good concept...but composition is too busy and proportions look wrong imo...also lighting seems inconsistent.
"their hair falling out, possibly from the horror of what they've seen. Here, even in spring, autumn and winter persisted- some trees leaf-less and some eternally orange in their colors, a strange and wondrous sight." Nuclear fallout?
We ended our civilization with a nuclear war, I guess?
You're backstory for this piece is enchanting.
I like your mix of Norse gods and modern sky scrapers and the inclusion of the seasons.
This, I have to say in all honesty, is probably some of the best work on Deviant Art!
Great stuff!
An instant fave!
I like the theme behind this one. it brings to mind (well, at least to my mind) ideas about the modern world. You can't help but wonder if our global civilization will see an end like this some day... and this picture makes me realize that i both like and dislike that as a possibility. On one hand, we are doing what no previous civilization has done (to our knowledge) and these times are very much enlightened compared to many other parts in history. There is a lot of good in the world. However, on the other hand, there is also alot of bad in the world, and a lot of nonchalance to the bad things being done. Things suck even more if you sympathize with nature. It seems to me that where we have oppressed, killed, tortured, warred, wronged and hurt our fellow humans in the past, we are now doing such things on an equivalent scale to nature itself. Don't get me wrong - we still wrong ppl all the time. But this seems to be the age of ruining earth. If we had a global collapse - tho that's an awful thing - it would probably be better for the rest of the planet. so, we have a problem unless we get ourselves under control, i guess. things don't really tend towards that way these days tho.... anyway, just musing.
i think this pic is really well done in concept and in execution. wonderful work!
There's nothing I can say to do this any justice. It's amazing beyond any words I could write. All I can say is I want to be able to paint and draw like that some day. It might be too late, considering my age, but I am truly envious. Pure brilliance.
