I bowed to the horned god, asking it for passage,
For in this city of the ancients, where time stood still,
any travelers that steered from the path, were known to have been consumed by the invisible demons... their hair falling out, possibly from the horror of what they've seen.
Here, even in spring, autumn and winter persisted- some trees leaf-less and some eternally orange in their colors, a strange and wondrous sight.

Wow, I'm really not sure what to say, I think the thing that really makes this for me is the lighting it's very selective, which is nice, I'm glad it's not a flood of light over the whole image.
To me this almost feels like a page from one of Stephen King's Dark Tower Books...in a sense. Not so much in the story but more in the amalgam of old and new, familiar and unknown all in one place.

This is one of the biggest ideas I've ever seen. I don't care if it's "just" overpainted, but hell! Those details and the colours and the concept...I just can't find proper words. The best was as I downloaded the full-sized image I saw a gradient. The upper part is horribilic.dead and dark, the lower part is living, light and "friendly". This contrast was the final reason: I have to add it to my favourites
