Daily Deviation!
Thank you for suggesting
and for featuring!
It really means a lot for me!
And of course huge THANKS to all of you guys who commented and faved! I will read all your comments and try to comment back.. Though don't get upset if I'll reply with just "thanks" to some of you.. There are so many comments and I have so small amount of time to read them that It's pretty impossible for me to write long replies to every one of you.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Instead of writing down my thoughts about this piece I would like to ask you what do you see in it?
What deep message do you think it contains?
Or is it just another pointless picture?
Please share your opinion in comments.

I think the message behind this is the greatest ideas start with a pencil. Or something like that...

Mmm. I dunno what I really see, but it's a kind of mixture between a light bulb and a pencil that can't be sharpened.. and this is not s stupid idea, I just can't explain it better

I agree with glompmeister: "I think that the meaning is that the pencil an sharpener represent an idea, relected into the light bulb (common symbol for a new idea) shape."
It's a very simple yet meaningful message.
Also, you should submit this idea to that tee shirt design contest. It'd be perfect!

This is really good. Now! To answer your questions?
1. I think that the meaning is that the pencil an sharpener represent an idea, relected into the light bulb (common symbol for a new idea) shape.
I think this art is WAYY COOL. I'm doing surrealism in my art class right now and this (for me) speaks to that immensely!

I say it's the opposite of artists block.
It's when you get a sudden burst of inspiration. A light-bulb-above-your-head moment, but with art...
ART BULB ABOVE YOUR HEAD.
......
Haha, eh..
Nice picture though. XD Fantastic.

I think it kinda symbolizes the intuitive inspiration and out-of-the-box thinking that is so necessary in art (and evident in this artwork as well). Love it!

My take on it is plain and simple: much like the CF bulb outputs brighter light at a fraction of the energy of incandescent bulbs, so too can the humble pencil be used to engage the audience more thoroughly than fancy pens, brushes, or software. Bottom line: less is often more.

uhm, that wouldn't fit in the sharpener so how would you sharpen it?

Witty picture ^ ^
I agree with most that this seems to point at our limited resources - seeing how quickly a pencil is sharpened away. On the other hand using a pencil is a rather environmental friendly way of writing compared to e.g. a ballpoint, since a pencil mostly consists of wood.
To me the picture seems to suggest that the energy saving light bulbs are more environmentally friendly but should not be overestimated as such: Our resources remain limited, unwise and unnecessary use will still melt them away quickly.
