A charming little painting I did tonight at Friday Night Art Dorks with Zerofriends and Chet Zar . So much fun creating art around these guys while watching great old movies! Tonight was The Thing( hence this horrific painting) and Escape From New Yorksee more art on facebook!:

The Thing, one of my fave movies of all time...looking forward to the sequel....that is if someone is capable of coming up with an adequate script, & a director that knows wot they r doing ...bring it on RJ MacReady

That's because Dead Space is heavily influenced by John Carpenter's version of The Thing from 1982. Most twisted sort of mutant/cyborg monstrosities are influenced either by the visual style of The Thing or Craven's Hellraiser (1987) or possibly Cronenberg's The Fly (1986).

That is true, but what I meant is actually more...literal. If you've played Dead Space far enough, eventually the walls start getting coated in slime, referred to as Corruption. Its secondary purpose is the recombination of biomass into new creatures, as demonstrated by a creature named the Guardian. [link]
The poor sod demonstrated in this art piece looks almost exactly like someone being changed by the Corruption in Dead Space.
That was my association, anyways.
