Description
Although I have a difficult time deciding exactly what is my most favorite horror film this one is easily my top five, hell, maybe even my most favorite. "John Carpenter's The Thing", I can watch it a million times and it still never gets old, best monster gross-out movie ever. So I felt like doing my own version of the Thing. I really had no plans on how it would look, I just started sketching and came up with this. It was a blast letting my twisted mind go wild. Anyways, if you haven't already seen the film go and see it. Very fun, scary, gross, and intense film.Related content

Machine gun? That would only piss it off. I would use a weapon that spews plasma everywhere like a flamethrower... a Plasmathrower. That would be one of the few ways to guarantee that it's dead.

They do shoot it and the dogs in the dog pen with a shotgun, but it doesn't do really do anything other than piss it off.

My literature teacher tell us that in that scene, him and his pregnant wife walk out of the movie theater, was to scary for them, and even described that experience kind a traumatized.

Supposedly, the creature that Norris' head turned into is the closest representation of the Thing's true form. It really had nothing to imitate at that point, I believe.

Not necessarily relating to the comic or the second movie (The first movie being "The Thing From Another World" 1951, but in the new, not nearly as amazing or inspiring as John Carpenter's version, The Thing is believed to be a large creature with a shape very similar to that of Earth's spiders in a much larger form.

In fact, Campbell's "Who Goes There" has a depiction of "The thing's" initial appearance. It was some form of a humanoid with tree red eyes (glowing with anger and hatred) as far as I remember. Though Carpenter is pretty accurate to the book in terms of gruesome transformations.

As far as the mytholgoy of the Things are concerned, only the 1982 and 2011 movies are cannon. The Things have no "true form", except perhaps the cells we see in the prequel. Each Thing cell is its own Thing, with larger bodies being Thing Colonies. The closest one could describe a Thing Colony's "true form" would be "an ambulatory tumor".
