Whoo boy back to pages now that classes are over!
I wanted to be sure to get this one out before I go on vacation this week (which starts tomorrow). Glad I didn't forget!Not entirely happy with how panel 1 came out with the room introduction since it was much more interesting in my head, and also because the other half of the room is entirely cut off, but you'll see it again in upcoming pages so I'm more okay with it for now.
So now that I learned how to actually perspective (still terribly) I hope I can start improving my convergences and whatnot on my pages. This page is an awful example since it was started prior to when I began learning, but I did implement some concepts, such as character sizes in perspective. Something that was unfortunately difficult because all characters in this scene are different sizes (Vernil is shorter than Kailani, and the maid I chose for slipping is conveniently the tallest maid) so it's still a bit off. But it'll get better with time!
And as well, our lovely Vernil gets her proper introduction to Kailani! It's about time.
As well, some additional (new) maids are seen here! I still need to make a lineup of each of them, maybe with some descriptions since I don't know when each of them will be introduced. It won't be for awhile no matter what, and none of them are overly important to the plot, so I think it'd be cute to have them all visually together. Plus it'd help me to keep track of them all!
Next page will be yet another scene change with some old characters making their reappearance. Excited for that~ I hope you guys will be too!

Are the maid all like same species? They have all two more cat like tails, round short ears (exept for the one tripping, she seems to have more pointy ears) and no lights on their tails.
Sorry if its a weird question. Just a bit curious.

Yup! They are all Ambivians but the maids are all the same type of "breed" of them. Good eye!
Ambivians never have lights on their tails, though. Kailani only has them cause she's a hybrid! A lot of people get confused about that (I should make a chart aha) It's not a weird question at all! No worries.

Ambivians have several breed types! I like to explain that Ambivians are similar to dogs in their breeds: some have specific "looks" to them like tail shape and ears. That's a result of different breeds. A lot of Ambivians are "mutts" of breed types, in small ways or large. Tanner, for instance, is a different breed type than Jacky. Tanner looks more like a fox-thing. Jacky is more rabbit or kangaroo lookin'. This is a result of their breed type. They are both relatively "purebred". Jenelle, however, is more mixed since she's got different tail types. Even the Queen and Princess (shown last chapter) are more "mutts". It's dependent on personal preference whether people want to marry within their own breed or not, but it's not a huge social issue.
Some breeds are more like human races in that they come with separate cultures. This is the case with Federico's maids. They are foreign, from a different country, so they have different cultures than those of the current country. There are several of those! All Ambivian breeds once had different cultures, but they blended together through time.
So it's a little mixed when it comes to that, but hope it helped! Sorry it's a little jumbled!

Oh I see. Are you ever going to tell more about the different breeds or are there just so many that its hard to go through them all?
So if someone has different tails he/she is probably mixbreeds? Like is Callia mixbreed?
I thought that mixbreed was like low in statues and thats why kailani and the gang was low because the were mixbreed. But guess that is debunked now if Tanner and Jacky is pure but the queen isnt. :/

Nah, mixed breeding isn't a super big deal. Like there's obviously still people who have bias against different breeds, but there's not an average bias, at least against natives. They are a bit more racist towards those from different countries, like Federico's maids. So if someone was half of one of them they would likely get some stares.
I think I referred to hybrids as "mixed bloods" earlier in the comic, but that word isn't really accurate anymore and confusing. Kailani is looked down upon cause she is an "unnatural" hybrid. The rest of the gang is looked down on cause their royal bloodline is either poorer or unknown. Status is insanely important to Royal Ambivians, so since their bloodlines are not as rich they are looked down upon.
Hilariously, it's MORE common for higher class Royals to be mixed bred since they have very limited options of who to marry. So they go with the best choice, which is usually a different breed or already mixed. So after centuries of doing that the high royal lineage is all sorts of mixed breeds.
I'm glad! I really wish I could explain all this in a proper format for people. I should try writing up a document sometime, but it'd probably be a novel!

Federico doesnt seems to care about Kailani being hybrid, but since he isnt Ambivian, it wouldnt matter if he hade choose a full Ambibian or not, wouldnt it still be seen as 'unnatural'?
Well its better that they mixed the breeds then inbreeding like the europiean royalty did. Pretty much every royal family in Europe are related and they still married eath other. Well not anymore but still...

Quite so. Honestly, if we got rid of racism it would just be replaced with something else. If everyone were the same race, same color, same gender, whatever there would be hate somewhere. It's the human condition. And therefore it applies the same to otherworldly creatures I believe. Sad but true.
If Federico was paired with a full-blood Ambivian... well. Funny enough the answer is a spoiler for the comic. So you'll have to see!
Oh Ambivian Royalty absolutely inbred too. Though it's not touching the degree of the European royalties, but it's also not far-off. They wouldn't necessarily marry, say, brothers or sisters, but it wasn't uncommon to marry cousins to keep lineage. This is why their selection now is smaller because they wish to avoid inbreeding as much as possible. There was a time when they would marry commoners (thus bumping them up to Royalty status) just to increase the bloodlines and reduce inbreeding. But it was very complex due to for lineages work and whatnot.

Are all or most royals somehow related to the Queen then? I wasnt sure if you use the term 'Royal' as the queens family (+ edended) or that they are just more likeΒ nobility.

OH GOSH WELL
I made a texture basically pfff I made a single plank and duplicated it a million times, changing the color a smidgen each time, and once I got enough variation I duplicated it again a couple times to make a big giant texture.
So all I gotta do after that is take the texture and perspective warp it where I want it! 8D
I do the same thing for the textures in the bathroom. I like making my own like that because it fits better with the style than using a legit texture that always looks kinda dumb and makes my file sizes soooo biiiig uggggh.
I would totally chill in there if I was her xD But then again, that mansion is so big there's so much to exploooooore
