Favorite panel: 2 (the adorableness... it controls me D: )
Least Favorite panel: 4

Personal Crits (ones I'd prefer you not mention):
-The crap of a limo again. Especially the seats xD;
-The planets. Even though they are incredibly epic I feel that they totally don't fit with the rest of the style. oh well.

Constructive Criticism, pointing out flaws, and spelling/grammatical help is DEFINITELY helpful!

Well, this is going to be one of the pages that will be scrapped and redone with a better version (not a revamp, as this scene will end up being quite different). But I'm not sure yet. I think I'm only going to keep the newer shading for only night scenes in this chapter. Then come chapter 2 I'm going to find a new method.

Having another look at this, there's something odd(even if your gonna replace it).
*Warning - Science Content*

The planets orbiting around the Mystic World, or something like that (I'm not sure xD), are very, VERY close to each other.
Judging from the mass of that world due to the height of the Ambivians, I would assume that the others are almost similar in size and mass from the given perspective.
Taking a closer look, the worlds themselves are much too close to each other, I assume that they're orbits are very close to each other or they're on the very same orbit going around...something.
Another note, being physically able to view other planets emphasizes the closeness of these planets.
This in fact would cause scientific chaos. D:>
The gravitational pull of the planets could cause HUGE disasters. Tidal waves, tsunamis, and other such mayhems. They might as well pull into each other, and just have one giant lump of planets in this galaxy of yours. Not to mention their electromagnetic fields(if they have any).
I'm not sure what the possibilities of 2 magnetic fields meeting, but it will affect technology powered through electricity.
Overloads, poweroutages, data corruption, major malfunctions, and any other electrical problem you can think of.

Now these are just simple deductions, mind you, given the fact that I don't know how the planets are placed as well as the 2 suns.
If you could supply such a picture, I would most appreciate it. But if you can't, I wouldn't blame ya. (:>

AlfaFilly In reply to cookiesGOOD4u [2010-03-20 04:20:31 +0000 UTC]

Haha, Indeed, they are indeed way too close to one another. I noticed this awhile back and plan to fix it in the redo. But as a visual, comparing them, I'd say... er... the planets are about the same as the Earth and Moon. Except instead of one "moon" there's six and I'd say these planets compared to the main world are a tad bit smaller in size. So, basically, imagine Earth and the moon. Make the Earth a tad bigger and the moon a tad smaller. That'd be this system. How would that work, ya think?

OH and that reminded me xD
What do you think of the world of Pandora from Avatar? [link]
Because, honestly, none of that crap seems like it would make sense, haha. So, I sort of... er... how do I put it? D:
I wouldn't say "don't care" if my worlds are perfect or not, because that'd be a lie because I do care because I want my worlds to seem completely plausible (though my lack of astronomical and biological science easily prevents this I would assume) but considering all the other worlds in fiction, Star Trek, Star Wars, Avatar, who's worlds are probably no more plausible than mine, I sort of don't find it... necessary, I guess, to have every little thing detailed out. Though I wish I could...

Are you, by any chance, actually, er, educated/knowledgeable in this kind of stuff? Cause I mean, it sounds like it but I don't know xD If so, you think you could possibly help me?

*Warning - Brief and Quick Conclusions were made (not very plausibe)*

Well, take a look at Jupiter or Saturn: their moons orbit around them at a certain distance from each other & themselves. You wouldn't want them to collide, would you?
The way the moons orbit this world of yours does not need a definate reference, they can be where you want them to be.
But how they orbit it will define more details, like the rare occasions when the moon blocks the sun and many more.
A simple question: do you want the moons to orbit in a chain (I'm assuming from the picture)?
That would impact greatly as well on other matters, like tides.

Well, I haven't seen the movie soo...
To me, it sort of does...urr...can.
The way the planets orbit around the sun sort of implies how they came in contact of their sun's gravitational pull.
I'm sure you know the Big Bang Theory. It states the entire universe started with a huge explosion.
Theoratically speaking, it sort of explains why, scientists believe, that the galaxies are still slowly moving away from each other and the "hot spots", were heat still radiates, that still remain from the age old universal napalm.

AH! You have called my bluff! XD
I am not, unfortunately, educated in this. But I do take pride in using knowledge that is not too difficult to learn in a more detail. But that doesn't mean I can't get that sort of knowledge.
I can tell you now, though, that I will help as much as I can. And when I can't, I'll do some research, and get back to you ASAP.
I'm sorry, I care much about detail. And if you do to, hear me out: let me help you and I swear to find answers to what you seek.

NOTE: It's not that I know more about stuff than you (which I don't believe is true), it's just that I take simple topics and go more indepth. You know, like critical thinking; agitate the topic till I get full understanding.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

AlfaFilly In reply to cookiesGOOD4u [2010-03-23 17:29:48 +0000 UTC]

Probably more plausible than anything I could think of!

Yeah, sort of like a chain. I'd figure tides would be pretty wonky or extreme in that case, what with not 1 but 6 moons to effect it. As well as how the tides would effects the moons/planets themselves, like Ambivia. It seems that it would be more difficult to tell how tides would effect a moon-like planet since there hasn't been any discovery of a moon with significant amounts of water to create oceans and, thus, tides.

Haha, only thing is I don't believe in the Big Bang Theory...
But makes enough sense I suppose.

You are amazingly epic! I would appreciate anything you could find and explain to me.
And yes indeed, I can't really do that a lot because I'm afraid I may not fully understand the initial subject and thus any depth I go into I probably would get wrong... xD

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

cookiesGOOD4u In reply to AlfaFilly [2010-03-24 03:06:15 +0000 UTC]

Well, that is not neccesarily true.
If the moons orbit this planet in a perfect circle, then the gravitational pull would be consitent.
I would assume that the force acted upon Earth, because of the moon, that causes the tides, would also exert it's force upon the moon (Newton's 3rd Law).
Since the moon does not have water, we therefore can't see the action taking place. But I assume it still works nonetheless.

I learned an equation (in Physics) to determine the gravitational force between 2 objects.
Fg = G((m1*m2)/r^2)
Since the main world in the center is a tad bigger than Earth and the moons a tad smaller then our moons, I'll change those numbers alittle to determine the gravitational pull on your moons and this main world.
Our moon's orbit is indefinite in it's orbit (irregular), so I'll use the farthest point between the Earth & Moon for "r".

Fg = (6.673*10^-11 Nm^2/kg^2)*(((6.5*10^24 kg)(7*10^22 kg))/(4.07*10^8 m)^2)

If I did the math right, the force acting between this main world and each moon would be 1.83*10^20 Newtons.

Now to find the gravitational pull between each moon, I would have to estimate the distance between each one.
For simplistic reasons, I'll assume each moon is placed from each other equally and their orbit is a perfect circle.
The distance between each moon isn't hard to find.
If the moons are placed around the world in equal portions then I just need to find the angle between the 2 distances of the world to the moon. A circle has 360Β°. Dividing it by 6 will give me 60Β°. So, if you draw the 6 moons and the world, and draw 2 lines coming from the center of the world and going to the center of 2 moons adjacent to each other and a line from one center of a moon to another, you get a triangle. Since one angle is 60Β°, then so would the other 2; meaning that the distance from the center of the world to the center of a moon is the same distance from the center of 1 moon to another. So, the distance between each moon is about 4.07*10^8 m as well.
Now to find the gravitational pull between 2 moons:

Fg = (6.673*10^-11 Nm^2/kg^2)((7*10^22 kg)^2/(4.07*10^8 m)^2)

The gravitational pull between each of these moons ,if they all had roughly the same mass, would be about 2*10^18 Newtons.
If these moons had water, I'd say they'd have 4 tides, unlike our 2.
Now the gravitational force between the Earth & moons is about 2*10^20 Newtons.
So, due to the data I have obtained, the tides between the moons and the world would be slightly smaller. And they would have a second set from the other moons.
But the world itself would be much crazier. XD
It could have about 6, and they would probably be more stronger due to having another moon right across from it.
For now, don't worry about that detail; I'll look into it later and get back to you later.

Well, for now, you might have some sort of idea of the tides.
I'll draw it out later from some more calculations, I think I bored you enough from the last ones above. XD

cookiesGOOD4u In reply to AlfaFilly [2010-03-26 02:38:43 +0000 UTC]

Really?...your not taking Physics?

Well, I found some information on the moon and tides and stuff.
I can't prove it exactly, but here goes.
From what I've learned, the Coriolis Effect causes a tide to be formed across from the moons gravitational force from the Earth's rotation (centripetal force).
When the moon and sun is aligned, the tides are stronger on earth, whether they're on one side of the earth or both: same thing.
So the moons in your world are across from each other, therefore increasing the tide...um...line.

I'm finding this all out for you, but there's something missing in my data that could drastically change everything: where are these 2 suns located? What is the orbit for this world and its moon around it?

I can't give you proper data if something that big is missing in the equation.

One thing though...
In panel 6, Kailani looks like something caught her attention out there in the sky.
Something unexpexted or dissapointing...somewhere aruond those ideas.
Did she, like, see something out there?
I'm pointing that out because the expression just doesn't fit the mood.
In the two panels between this one (5 & 7) Kailani looks like she's deep in thought but the picture in this panel just kinda feels out-of-place.
Like something distracted her but her thoughts aren't interrupted at all.
Great comic though!
