Description
This is not really a thing. It exists because I got anxious, and because I was frustrated that I couldn't figure out how to finish the painting, that I am about to post, right after this one.
I had to figure out how to draw things out of focus. So I did. I'm no master of it yet, but it's a good new tool.
I meant to use this to try and learn the common technique of using a thick brush with pressure sensitivity set to opacity, instead of my standard: size. But I was tired and unhappy and slipped into habit.
It's a scrap.
But it's also better than almost everything else I have on this site anyway, so whatever.
I'm not the one who gets to decide if this matters anyway.
Thou wilt zoom in.

Wow - I'm im love with the skin! It looks so luscious and warm and the depth of focus adds so much liveliness to the painting.
Your art is generally awesome; your sense of detail and lighting, and your researching approach to painting has inspired me very much over the years I've been reading your blog(s) and stalking yor devArt.
I really look forward to any new thoughts or beautiful art you might be posting in the future. :]

Aw, thanks so much!
If I was gonna start sharing more again, is this the best place for you to see stuff?
I'm writing a graphic novel (which, holy crap, is an even bigger project than usual), and I've learned a lot of cool things that seem like worth sharing, not to mention all the crazy wip stuff that I've got lying around now. I'm finally ready to start putting things in front of people again, and I'm trying to figure out where all I need to be updating so all you scattered viewers from over the years can get all the things.

A graphic novel? AWE-some! I'd be thrilled to see that!
Yes, devArt would be the fastest way for me to learn about your new works.
Also, a (very belated , but heartfelt) thanks for your kind answer!

Thank you!
I can't really take too much credit for any emotion in it. Between that director, and Tyler Joseph, snagging a sweet reference was easy. I just drew what I saw.
