Description
Looks like a lovecraftian horror but is actually another sci-fi idea for Centauri. I’ve done a human engineered for space, Martian humans, uplifted animals, now its a subset of humanity that’s gone in a radical, technological route.

The idea so far is that a group of humans formed an almost cult-like sect who’s goals is to achieve higher being through technology. Attempts to upload consciousness into computers proved unsuccessful so they did the next best thing; removing their own brains from their bodies and encasing them in a protective shell that doubles as an additional layer of the brain and is covered in a swarm of nano machines that can shape into whatever they can think of. Striving for further perfection, they acquired the DNA of the smartest people alive and dead (sometimes through questionable means) to clone intellectually superior brains while editing them to reach the biological limits of size and neuron capacity before encasing them within their own shells. A growing sense of superiority started to create mistrust and even conflict with the rest of humanity, forcing them to retreat into space, destination unknown.

I think I’m going to play around with the design and lore but I would love to know what you all think.
