this has nothing to do with scooby
't is actually quite the tragic story!
you are looking at the house, once owned by the mayor of a very wealthy mining town called thunder mesa. He had a beautifull daughter, and she came to the age to be wed. They found her a handsome, nice man, and they fell in love. On the day of their wedding, he dissapeared, never to be seen again. She awaited him, at her dressing table, in her wedding dress, untill she died of grief. Now her spirit still wanders the house, waiting and looking for him. tough she is not alone... nine hundred and ninety-nine ghosts inhabit this house, nowadays, and they are still looking for the thousandt one to fill the last place...

.... Have they called Casper? I hear he's looking for a new place to stay...
Yeah that's a tragic story... reminds me of Great Expectations. Ever read that book?

Charles Dickens. It was required reading my freshman year in High School.... a bit dry at first but the story as a whole is rather interesting.
It might not seem like it at first but it's a little twisted and a very tragic tale.
There is a wealthy old lady who has worn the same wedding dress for years... (since the day her wedding was supposed to be...) and she wears it EVERY day... the wedding cake, rotten and nasty still sits with everything else on the table that was there since the day of the wedding... she's rather insane but she has a girl, a niece, if I remember correctly.... and the men fancy her quite a bit. The old woman is extremely bitter and begins to teach the girl all sorts of interesting things that cause many twists and turns and painful problems for the suitors....
It's really quite sad at the end... I don't wanna spoil the whole thing in case you wanna read it... but it's not a far cry from this... except there aren't ghosts... it's more like .. an insane old lady who acts like a ghost... I guess... it's creepy and weird in parts - I think you might like it

Well, honestly I know absolutely nil 'bout digital art, and I don't even know what vector art is... But I rather like this piece, the lineart is great, and so are the colours. My favorite thing about tthis pice though, would be how you did the fog- it really looks awesome, perhaps even more so with the foreground of the eh... ground and the plants. I kinda creates the feeling of that you're lying on the ground looking up at a ghost house.

a vector is a piece of digital art, that is composed of mathematic formula's, instead of pixels. It calculates and recalculates the position of the edges of the object(s), wich allows to expand in size without quality loss (unlike with pixeled art where you always loose quality if you resize).
The downside to it, is that it is virtually impossible to give a soft touch to your feelings, as there is no such thing as 'blur'. every line is sharp edged. So in order to give the impression of blur or gradients (it does have gradients, but in a very basic way) you have to layer and layer and layer.
The fog alone took me 100 layers on top of each other with a 1 or 2% opacy.

I'm not usually into vector graphics, but this caught my eye. What most impresses me, is the misty, mysterious mood in this, and the great level of details. Showing the plants as just silhouettes is very effective. I love the bats, too. :>

Great piece -particularly like the sparse plants in the forground and the fog effect - very atmospheric.
I love this ride too!

sorry it was too late for the halloween contest tough I started drawing, and drawing, and then it started having so much detail, I wasn't able to finish it in time anymore... I think this is the most detailed work I have ever made.
