Description
The head and tail probably could have been more realistic, but I tried so many different versions that now none of them look right, but I'm happy with this one. Β Anyhow, this is not meant to be a realistic run cycle, but more of a playful lope that you would never actually see.Related content

Always~
It seems very tricky actually I think everyone has trouble with it but gosh you have a good idea of what is realistic! A fabulous idea actually *looks at you in awe* lolol
nah it's okay, I'm starting a course this Autumn ^^
Here's some videos, it's interesting to note the difference between breeds! Some don't put their heads between their legs when outstretched while others do (like the Greyhound, who's running method is pretty much equal to a Cheetah's), likewise for the back arch- I've noticed some don't have much of an arch at all! But you can see the extra force the front half of their body is having to make to keep the speed up instead of the extra power the back legs would have gotten from having more of an arched back? Oh wait, was it you that said they couldn't watch videos on their wifi? D: (bad memory is bad)Β

skip to 1:45 in this one for greyhound, unless you want to watch a cheetah too Β www.youtube.com/watch?v=jc8Hnoβ¦
And this one isn't running, but I just find it fun to watch www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfg46f⦠the different positions they perform when jumping hehe. There is some running though, which is very interesting to note because small dogs don't run but leap it seems. A stride and a jump repeatedly. I think this information will come in very useful if I/we ever have to animate small canines ^^ . Do you think it is the length of the grass though? I don't think it is very long.

XD Thank you. Β What course are you taking again? Biology, was it?
I never thought to compare different breeds. DX I've been only observing my dogs which all are similar in breed.
XD I shouldn't be watching videos, but we got a slightly better package, so I'll risk it. Β Those are really interesting! That Greyhound looks very strange at that speed. And as for the small dogs I think your right about the leaping. Β I'm not a fan of small dogs. XD They look ridiculous running like that.Β

Ah, not quite Agriculture! We work with animals, don't do much biology though :/ Did a lot on plant biology last year though. *dies*
Ah, clever me then haha. Well, now you hhave the idea ^^
Whoop :3
Ikr! I've been watching so many slow motion videos recently nothing much surprises me anymore- for example did you know dogs bring the water up behind their tongue when drinking, not the front? :3 And cats don't lap at all, they simply dip their tongues in straight and amazingly the liquid climbs up the barbs of the tongue, then the tongue is retreated again ^^
Also, you should totally look up dogs shaking off water in slow mo too, if you get somewhere where you can watch videos with less worry haha. Their faces are super funny XD
Yeah :') but good for a freezeframe reference of a dog in a flying pose or a leap, that too lol.

Oh, that's right!
I wish I could watch things like that. ;A; I love slow-motion videos and those sound interesting. XD Β I know that about dog tongues, but not about cats. Β

Very, very good animation. It's really smooth, the tail movement is amazing! However, if I may say this, it looks likes it's trying to jump or it's skipping. I'd say not to rise the paws so high. But, other then that its a fantastic animation. Very good job^^ Β

Thank you. Β It was meant to be a skipping kind of run. Β I know its not realistic and nothing would ever probably run like that, but its what I was going for. XD

The tails so long and the motion with the size and shape, it reminds of an eagle's wing flapping.

Is that a good thing? XD I've been drawing them with long tails for so long that regular sized tail look ridiculous to me.Β

It's very hard 2 draw flowing wings, believe me that's a good talent.

His tail......o.o! Its so purty I can't stop watching it!!!
Wonderful cycle though! And IDK if its just me, but it looks as if he/she is slightly hopping amist running - in preparation to pounce on top of something!

How can you download the animations ?
π: 0 β©: 1
Aliuh In reply to AntoniWildfangSSD [2014-11-25 15:44:29 +0000 UTC]
You have to right click on the download button and select either Save Link As or Save target As. Β If your using a PC anyway. Β But unless you have a SWF player you probably wouldn't be able to play it.Β

What method of animation do you use? " Frame by frame ,Β doll puppet.. tween " I dunno... ??? It's very smooth and soft.. very great...
π: 0 β©: 1
Aliuh In reply to MontyTH [2014-10-27 18:54:44 +0000 UTC]
Thank you. Β I usually just do frame by frame, but for this one I used a combination of that and tweening. Β I tweened the legs and head then traced over them.
