Description
The head and tail probably could have been more realistic, but I tried so many different versions that now none of them look right, but I'm happy with this one. Β Anyhow, this is not meant to be a realistic run cycle, but more of a playful lope that you would never actually see.Related content

do you use motion tweens for smoother movements? i could never figure out how to smooth run cycles out

Aliuh In reply to GlaciaIceWolf [2014-07-09 02:13:49 +0000 UTC]
It's not often I can smooth them out either. I use tweens to get patches of fur right. Β I tween, then trace over them. Β I usually use them to keep the legs the right length too, but I prefer not to use tweening. Β I find it makes it look unrealistic.Β

Wholy crap it's so smooth! What program do you use? And how long do you take? Or I should ask how you make it so fluid in motion?

Aliuh In reply to N0naButt [2014-06-02 18:40:30 +0000 UTC]
This was made in Flash CS4. Β I have no idea how long it took. Β It was over the course of a month or two. XD As for being fluid... I'm not really sure, actually. Β I started with a sketch and refined it several times over.

Is this frame by frame or do you use some sort of joint movement?
π: 0 β©: 1
Aliuh In reply to Fire-Topaz [2014-05-13 21:34:31 +0000 UTC]
The sketch was frame by frame but I used tweening to get some of the fur which I then traced over.Β

This is awesome and smooth! But, I have some...constructive criticism. Truly they kinda look like they weigh nothing, like they're skating on ice! Maybe try to give it more...what's the word...feeling! Realizum! OTHER THAN THAT THISH ISH AMAZING AND YOUR AWESOME

Thank you for bringing it to my attention! Β I will defiantly keep it in mind for next time.
And thank you for that. XD

do you use flash or photoshop? and I have been watching you for quite a while now and I must say, you are just improving all the time, getting better and better this is probably by far one of your smoothest I think, and emotive at the same time. Well done.

I use Flash to animate, and Photoshop for other works.
Thank you for the compliment! Β It means a lot to me that you say that.

The shoulder shoudnt move while running, it looks like you just squashed it in photoshop.
π: 0 β©: 1
Aliuh In reply to Malllow [2014-04-18 18:27:23 +0000 UTC]
It shouldn't? Β From any reference I've seen the shoulder moves quite a bit. Β

Malllow In reply to Aliuh [2014-04-18 19:00:30 +0000 UTC]
no, what i kinda meant is the whole front half lifts up off the ground so it looks like its hopping/jumping.
like here aliuh.deviantart.com/art/Merry⦠you can imaging a distinct line across the back, and it only ever strays a bit from the line in terms of movement. like your old horse animation it has good movement and doesnt do the 'hopping'

Aliuh In reply to Malllow [2014-04-23 03:18:54 +0000 UTC]
Ah, I see what you mean now. Β Its probably not realistic, but I was aiming for a hoping/loping run. Β Something playful-like.Β
